Reviews for The Milestone Hotel

Picture Perfect Stay in London! Lovely Staff and AMAZING Amenities (Cold Plunge, Sauna). Excellent Food & Drinks!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

My fiance and I recently stayed at The Milestone Hotel and had an absolutely amazing experience! Everything from the location to the employees to the food was exceptional! To begin, the staff at this hotel are phenomenal! When we checked in we were greeted by lovely doormen who helped us with our bags (and helped us get taxis throughout our stay). Upon check-in we realized that we accidentally booked the wrong checkout day… but the receptionists were able to extend our stay easily and without us having to move rooms which was a huge relief! The receptionists were very welcoming and were kind enough to give us a tour of the hotel before showing us to our room where they explained how to work the tv and air conditioning. It was so nice to get the lay of the land and feel confident getting to the gym, the bar, or to breakfast in the morning! Everyone we encountered was incredibly helpful, kind, and attentive. Our room was beautiful! We had a giant window facing a beautiful park that let in tons of natural light. We visited in July and were extremely happy to find that our air conditioning worked WELL! This was something we were both worried about beforehand. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the blackout curtains were perfect for sleeping in! We both loved the complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash - it smelled fantastic and felt very high quality (I’m very picky on my shampoo and conditioner). The hair dryer was also very powerful and high quality which I find is not usually the case in hotels (people with long hair will understand). We had turn down service every evening which was amazing to come back to after a dinner out. What we probably loved the most and what’s something I’ve never seen at a hotel before was the cold plunge! My fiance loves cryotherapy, ice baths, cold plunges and all of those types of things and was ecstatic! I prefer the heat and loved the sauna. The gym was very clean and had everything necessary for a good workout. It even included a swim spa style pool for lap swimming! The amenities at this hotel were just incredible! The food was AMAZING! I highly recommend having breakfast at the hotel. There is always a smoothie and juice of the day and a variety of treats (muffins, toast, etc) to start off… the blueberry and chocolate muffins were to die for! My fiance and I both had and loved the avocado toast with poached eggs as well as the omelette. While we didn’t eat dinner at the hotel, we had drinks and snacks at The Stable Bar - cheese toasties, club sandwich, etc. and they were incredible! The Stable Bar was once an actual stable and was absolutely gorgeous and unique (I loved the horse themed artwork and took many pictures). The bartenders were both so sweet - one of my friends was talking about how he was going to Romania the next morning and the bartender gave him a handwritten list of recommendations for his trip! I highly recommend staying at The Milestone Hotel if you’re visiting London! The staff are beyond lovely and are genuinely happy to help you have the best stay possible whether that means giving you recommendations for restaurants or museums or giving you a tour of the hotel so you know how to get around! The location is incredible - very central and right across the street from a massive park. The building itself is just gorgeous with spacious, well decorated rooms and beautiful artwork and flowers throughout the hotel. The food and drinks were amazing and the amenities were outrageous (in a good way)! If you want to have a picture-perfect stay in London, stay at the Milestone!

A 5 star hotel that emphasises a personal connection towards its guests

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This was our 3rd stay at the Milestone hotel and, as it was a double celebration of our 15 year anniversary and my partner’s Birthday, we stayed for 3 nights. The fact we have been twice before already speaks volumes. We are always touched by the finer points of this hotel. Belonging to the Red Carnation Hotels one of the ethos’ of the group is that it emphasises on ‘providing an intuitive, deeply personal kind of service, shaped by care and passion’. This is so evident from the staff and management such a high level of the personal touch that you feel relaxed and ‘at home’ straight away. The hotel was full, with some guests taking resident for 3 months! Yet with such a busy season there was never a drop in service levels and each member of staff took time with us. Wonderful hotel.. Mr. Andrew Pike will no doubt be very proud of his team… See you next year!

Indifferent service, awful smell

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

To start with the positive, the hotel is in a historic building and has very charming decor. We were given an upgrade which was well appreciated. The food was excellent and it was English cuisine; I think it’s extra difficult to do well since it tends to be bland. The problematic part is that the hotel has mildew and it’s quite unhealthy. The air conditioning was poor and didn’t help with the awful smell. The plumbing had issues and as air went into the piping it started making noise and blurting out water at high pressure. The residence was really charming so it’s a shame it was let down by the mildew and the air quality issue. The mildew does make it quite inhabitable especially if you were to have allergies or any breathing- related health issues. Another letdown was the service. We ordered room service and when we inquired after it 50 (!) minutes later, it had been forgotten so we had to re-order. It has never happened to me before and I certainly wouldn’t have expected it in a five star hotel. It was late in the evening and we were very hungry so it was quite a wait. Another quite disturbing occurrence was when the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night at 4:30 a.m. We were very far from the entrance and the reception, up on the third floor on top of very narrow staircase. We didn’t want to go down unless there was a good reason to do so. The staff didn’t inform us if there is a reason for concern during this time. In other hotels in similar situations the staff took care to contact me and inform of the action needed so that was what I expected and so we waited. To our surprise, only in the morning we found a letter under the door informing us that the alarm was faulty and there was no fire. It was obvious at this point anyway since the house around us hadn’t burnt down. The hotel later explained they cannot inform all the guests as it’s too much trouble. I guess in that case maintaining the alarms so that they don’t go off is an option to aim for. If you however have an issue that is very uncomfortable for the guests you should go through any trouble necessary to rectify it and make sure everyone feels safe. Since there were several occasions of shall we say indifference to our wellbeing, I felt the service really wasn’t up to a five star standard. Also, although it is an old building, it is possible to renovate it so that the mildew, air conditioning and piping is addressed. Is it profitable to do so is another question.

Amazing hotel, perfect location, wonderful staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This hotel was so beautiful and in such an amazing part of the city. While the accommodations were wonderful, they could not compare with the amazing staff. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay special. It is truly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had and I’m so grateful that my daughter was able to experience it. I would highly recommend this establishment.

Amazing!!!

I cannot say enough of how amazing this hotel is. The staff is exceptional, warming and make you feel at home. They remember your room number so you can just add drinks, food, etc. to your room with ease. Kostas and Tim were just the best! The rooms are phenomenal. The housekeepers were each amazing. Twice a day they clean and make sure you have enough towels and beds are always made. They even leave you a little treat each evening. This is a MUST book in London. Wonderful neighborhood with great coffee spots and the park across the street! This was our second stay and will be back next year!! Get room service too!!! Delicious!

We stayed at the fabulous Milestone Hotel in London, opposite Kensington Palace. The service and attention to detail of everyone from the manager to our own personal butler was a most truly unforgettable experience. Staff we had never met before even knew our names at all times. Very friendly and professional.

My husband and I have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world. If there was a way to give The Milestone more than 5 stars - I would give them 15 stars. It is quite possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in London or anywhere else. Our room was large and beautiful, with amenities I have never seen anywhere else, like a silver case with printed cards with my name and all the hotel information to give out while I was staying at the Milestone. Every little thing that we might need was thought of. If you read the website - it sounds too good to be true, but it is even better than described.

The staff was perfect. We felt like honored members of a very exclusive club. I had filled out an email questionnaire and they got everything right. When we first walked into the bar, the barman said, "Good evening." He knew our names and then he reached for a bottle of my husband's favorite rum. We will never stay anywhere else in London.
