Reviews for The Montague on the Gardens

Function Friendly

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

I attended a work function at this venue and was impressed with the beach themed set up (London meets Hawaii). The set up was amazing with beach sand, flower garlands on arrival and a tasty rum punch. Food was delicious as well. Staff were on hand ensuring that guests were well taken care of. Highly recommend this venue for your special function.

Overall British Posh!

Overall we felt pampered. This is a luxury boutique hotel in a nice quiet neighborhood. The staff is incredibly professional and caring. The beds are comfortable and the shower good. The rooms are quite small as we stayed for 5 nights, it was cramped. The only other complaint was the cracked marble bath floor, was noisy and we were afraid of hurting our bare feet. They did say they planned to fix it, but nothing was done during our stay. Make use of the concierge, very helpful!

My Favorite Hotel in London

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

This was my third stay at the Montague, which is now the only hotel I would consider in London. As before, the staff was friendly and welcoming, our room request was honored perfectly, and everything about the furnishings and ambiance was pleasing. We had a lovely dinner in the glass enclosed garden terrace, listening to live smooth jazz from the bar just inside. Breakfast in the dining room was fresh and delivered quickly. All of the wait staff is friendly and expert. I look forward to my next stay!

Nice, not sure the expense is worth it

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We've stayed here twice. It's perfect for people who want a little pampering and don't mind paying for it. That said, I think next time I might opt for a different place. My wife and I simply don't need bellmen and door openers and multiple housekeeping room checks per day. (The latter happen almost to an absurd extent, the people knocking on the door every few hours asking if we needed anything.) "Value" isn't really my target metric when choosing a hotel, but it's hard not to notice that the hotel breakfast offers less and is remarkably more expensive than neighborhood restaurants. The high tea also is very nice but no better than other high teas we've done other places for less money. I like the boutique nature of the hotel, I mostly like the location (although Russell Square is not a terribly useful tube station for getting around London -- it's often faster to walk), the staff were nice enough. It just feels like the value we get is not really worth the cost.

Perfect, definitely book this hotel!

This is a gem! Everything was perfect about this hotel. The decor was elegant. Every single staff member from Frankie to Sebastian - just top of the line professional and kind. Cat, our server was very sweet, the gentlemen at the bar- lovely. We enjoyed tea and breakfast at the Montague- just delicious! The location was ideal. We walked to Trafalgar square, to Covent gardens, the British museum is right across the street. We wanted to see a musical and the concierge was fabulous...got us amazing seats. I look forward to staying there again.
