I only stayed for one night (10th/11th Feb) as part of my 50th birthday celebrations but it was delightful. The young guy on reception (apologies, I didn’t get his name) was fabulous and upgraded us to the Bedford Suite, an absolutely beautiful room! Originally we had intended to treat the hotel as a base only but the hotel and suite were so nice we actually came back early from our evening out to make the most of it. To top it all, upon our return I discovered birthday cards handwritten by the staff and chocolates! Thank you for making it such a special stay, the personal touches made it magical.

We loved our stay and hated to leave. We already regarded The Montague as our London Home and now even more so after this most recent, holiday, stay. Room and food and common areas were amazing and everyone was exemplary, and additionally I would like to personally bring attention to James, curly headed young guy from Wales (I’m fairly sure his name is James), at the Front Desk who was especially helpful and friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Would 100% recommend this hotel, from start to finish the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. Without a doubt the nicest hotel we have ever stayed and will certainly be returning. Especially thanks to James the front of house manager. Lovely location not too far from the centre of London with beautiful decor. Reasonably priced considering what you get with this hotel.Honestly could not praise it enough and thank you if any of the staff read these reviews.

Loved this hotel! Great location - across the street from the British Museum and close to 2 tube stations. The hotel was very charming and inviting. The staff was lovely. Very friendly and helpful. I was traveling alone and they all made a point to talk me even if it was just a cheerful hello. My room was really nice - clean and a good size. There was a coffee/tea set up in the room that even included biscuits! The bed was so comfortable that it was hard to get out of it in the morning! The breakfast buffet was a full English breakfast (tasty) but they also had fruit and yogurt and an option to order off a menu. I did not eat in the restaurant for dinner so can’t comment on it. I did take afternoon tea at the hotel and really enjoyed it. The scones, sandwiches and sweets were delicious. It was a nice end to my stay at the Montague. Not only would I recommend this hotel to family and friends, I hope to stay there again when I return to London next year.

Our family spent two nights (Dec. 21-22) at The Montague on the Gardens. We had come over from the Netherlands to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. It was my wife and my second stay at the Montague and the accommodations, the breakfast, and the customer service from the front desk to housekeeping were all top notch. A special and much appreciated touch was the birthday plate that was delivered to the room for our daughter with cupcakes and a card signed by staff. But the reason for my writing this review is the service of one particular staff person who helped me get through a particular headache that made my visit challenging. I had a project from work that I needed to spend a large number of hours on, which meant I was up LATE. I took to working at the desk in an alcove on the lower level of the hotel. I think it was around 2 a.m. or so on the first night that Don, a staffperson, spied me at the desk. He asked if he could bring me something while I worked. What a welcome, delightful surprise. A few minutes later, Don reappeared with a tray with coffee, toast, and a preserves. I made sure to tell him our room number so he could add it to our tab, but he just waved a hand to say that wasn't necessary. At a point when I felt stressed and tired, Don's kindness did a lot to help me make it through that evening. Then the second night, I needed to get up early to finish the project. So at 5:30 a.m., I set up my computer back at the desk. A few minutes later, Don came down the stairs, greeted me by name, and asked if he could (again) bring me a tray of coffee, toast and preserves, which I accepted gratefully. When you go to stay at a hotel, and particularly one that you know is well run, you arrive with certain expectations of the premises and level of service that you'll receive. But what I would never expect, but experienced those two nights at the Montague through Don, was feeling as though I was being cared for, almost as though I was a member of a family. When I think back on that trip to London, I'll remember the Nutcracker, the dinner in Covent Gardens, a couple pubs and some shopping. And then I'll always remember our stay at the Montague, and how Don helped me get through the night and that second early morning.
