Simply excellent

I wished I could have stayed longer! Really five star service from check in to check out. Milan on reception was super welcoming and the whole reception team engaged with me positively during check in, which I really appreciated. The room was simple and elegant, beautifully done. Location was always going to be excellent and I enjoyed a great breakfast. If I’m being really picky, there was some corridor noise and the toast was oddly disappointing, but that really is being picky, just so I can convey quite how outstanding it was in every other respect! I have been gushing with fulsome praise about my one night stay to friends, family and colleagues ever since. I will definitely return.

Valuable Ring Missing from My Room – Very Disappointing Response

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I stayed at One Aldwych from 9–14 July and reported a Cartier ring missing from my locked room on 12 July. The ring was inside a zipped pouch, within a zipped compartment of my backpack, alongside other jewellery that was untouched. I reported the incident immediately and was told an investigation would take place. Despite repeated requests, I received only vague updates and never a written summary of the investigation. Days later, the hotel informed me they had found nothing and would not accept liability because the ring was not placed in the in-room safe. As someone familiar with the Hotel Proprietors Act 1956 and London Local Authorities Act 2004, I know that hotels in London are strictly liable for loss of guest property up to £750 per item, provided the statutory notice is displayed (which it was). Using the in-room safe is a precaution, not a legal requirement. Instead of honoring their obligations, the hotel offered only a complimentary one-night stay as a goodwill gesture, which does nothing to address the loss or lack of accountability. This experience has left me with serious concerns about guest security, transparency, and how such incidents are handled at this property. For a hotel of this level, I expected far better. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend One Aldwych to travelers who value trust and peace of mind.

Great stay overall, with a few disappointments

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms were quiet, thoughtfully designed, and came with excellent features like dimmable lighting and a complimentary mini bar. As a lovely surprise for my partner’s birthday, we were even gifted a small cake and a bottle of champagne, which was a thoughtful touch. Most of the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Housekeeping, in particular, was excellent—very attentive and accommodating. On one occasion, we forgot to release the “Do Not Disturb” sign, and they even reached out by email to ask if we wanted service later in the day. That said, a few interactions with staff felt less welcoming. I dress casually while on holiday and also covered in tattoos, and on a couple of occasions I had to inform them I was indeed staying there. Something I’ve never experienced at other high-end hotels. At checkout, the front desk staff made a slightly cheeky comment about only having a short stay (four nights, which seems standard to me), that felt unnecessary and left a bit of a sour note on our final day. Overall, it was a lovely stay and I would still recommend the hotel. With a bit more consistency in guest relations, it would easily be a five-star experience.

Fabulous stay at One Aldwych

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My son and I stayed here for a long weekend and everything was perfect! The hotel is beautiful, immaculately clean and in a great location. We stayed in a superior room and it was very well laid-out with lots of places to store personal items. Every staff member was helpful, thoughtful & gracious - they really made our stay special! They put a kid-sized robe and slippers in our room for my son. So many thoughtful touches, from the well-stocked minibar to turn-down service - we felt so welcome and One Aldwych was a fabulous place to call home away from home. My son kept saying he wished we could live at this hotel!
