Willy Wonka afternoon tea

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Wow, what an experience the themed afternoon tea is. Absolutely loved the attention to detail, from the decor around the room, to the plates, the names of the drinks and the food and the touches made to the food itself and how it was delivered to us. It’s really was very well thought out. The food was creative and sometimes less is more. We appreciated a variety of savoury treats and not just sandwiches, as they can really fill you up, especially if like me you don’t usually eat bread. I was really looking forward to the raspberry and white chocolate scone but was sad to find it tasted similarly to the plain one. The chocolate used for the sweet treat and the hot chocolate was quite bitter too. I was ok with this but certainly would have preferred a milkier one, my husband was especially not a fan and it was the same for the birthday treat they brought out for him. The macaron though, wow!!!! Could have eaten loads of those. The staff were brilliant. Lost count of how many different people came to our table but every one of them was friendly, happy in their work and attentive. The right amount of time was left between the savoury course and sweet course, which was really appreciated- we weren’t at all rushed. On the whole I would definitely recommend the experience. We managed to eat everything, which for an afternoon tea is rare for us and as a result didn’t bring anything home. We were shocked to see how much others left though and didn’t take home.

One Aldwych Made Our London Trip Even Better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We arrived by car and the staff immediately helped us unpack and parked the car for us, which was a great relief. Our room wasn’t ready, but we were offered a drink while waiting in the lobby. When it was ready, a staff member escorted us to a beautiful room with a lovely view and explained all the features. The location is perfect, and we couldn’t fault a thing. We’ll definitely be back.

Gorgeous design, luxury amenities managed by wonderful down-to-earth staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Gorgeous design meets super comfortable environment and wonderful staff. One Aldwych exceeded my expectations with top notch luxury and an independent feeling that included lots of extras - check in chocolates, tons of free food in the room, a guest only lobby library area and the most stay enhancing lighting of any hotel room I've ever been in. This is a beautiful, historic place in a great location.

The staff make this hotel!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

In a city full of five-star and ultra-luxurious hotels, I think it’s the staff that really make a hotel stand out — and that’s exactly what makes One Aldwych so special. From before we even arrived, the team were incredibly engaged and helpful. They went out of their way to help us organise restaurants and show tickets, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. That level of personal service really made a difference and gave us a great feeling about the hotel before we had even arrived. During our stay we visited the new RH Rooftop Restaurant, which was amazing and definitely worth a visit. We also made our way over to ABC Kitchen at The Emory, which was another great experience and well worth adding to the trip. One Aldwych is in such a fantastic location, right in the heart of London, but for me it was the people that really made the stay memorable. The staff were genuinely friendly, engaged and seemed to really care about making sure we had a great time. There are plenty of incredible luxury hotels in London, but it’s that personal touch and genuine warmth from the team that makes you want to come back. The staff at the spa and treatments were great! We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to One Aldwych.
