Nice hotel, but a couple frustrating moments in our stay.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Overall a good hotel, but a couple issues did come up while we were there. First, when we arrived they encouraged me to use the the digital key through the app, but it didn't work for me to get on the lifts. We arrived pretty late, had tired kids with us. But then had to go back to the front desk where only one person was working, had to wait in the queue again to get a physical card. Not a huge deal, but frustrating in the moment when you're dealing with tired kiddos to have to wait twice because there was only one person working the front desk (and there were other staff there, just not helping guests). The other issue was related to the pool. Two things here: 1) when we called to ask the front desk where the pool was they said "1st floor, you can't miss it"... But when we went to find it, it's really quite hidden with no signage that says pool, have to take a journey through a labyrinth to find it - simple signage would be super helpful. Definitely don't tell guests "you can't miss it," because you definitely can. And 2) for some reason the lifts don't stop on floor 1, so you have to go to the lobby in your swimming costumes, take an escalator up to the next floor - feels unnecessary and not very private. All very strange. All this to say, also had some very helpful staff, especially when it came to helping with our luggage. Nice hotel overall, but some quirks for sure.

Great base to explore London!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We used the hotel as a base for a 3 night stay in London. An event at County Hall and a concert at the Royal Albert Hall along with a few other plans around the area. It was convenient for both Lambeth North and Vauxhall Stations. Wonderful option for The South Bank. The staff were friendly all the way through the stay. Breakfasts were nice and a good way to start the day. The area was lovely, quiet and safe. The pool was lovely in the evening (be sure to book) after sweltering days walking around London. The rooms were a nice size for our party of 2 adults and a child. The bathrooms with a deep bath and a spacious separate shower cubicles were good. There are a couple of convenience stores within a few metres and if you walk further, there was a wonderful food market operating from lunchtime to evenings Friday to Sunday with great international stalls from different corners of the world not far down by The South Bank Centre. Not far across the Thames are the Houses of Parliament. We would definitely come back and stay at this hotel again.

Chino Latino masterclass and dinner

We had a Dim sum class with Emerson the chef and then had a set ment at Chino Latino , we found the class fantastic Emerson and his team were incredible and so skilled at what they do and it was two hours of fun. Also then we had the most amazing set menu afterwards worth every penny there was so much food but it was so delicious. Highly recommend it.

Anniversary Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

My husband booked this hotel as a surprise for our 1st Wedding Anniversary (& my birthday). Upon check-in we were advised that whilst our room was on the first floor, we had access to the lounge on the 12th floor. We went directly to our room and once we had unpacked, we decided to go and grab a drink, hopefully on the 12th floor. Once we arrived there, our key card failed us and we were unable to get in. Having not really been sure what this 12th floor lounge even was, we went back to reception to ask. Another guy checked and said yes, we were “Guests of the day” which gave us access to the lounge. He gave us new keys and sent us on our way. So, back to the 12th floor we went and as we entered, a young lady in there asked us for our room number. She didn’t seem sure why we were there and so she contacted reception to ask. Anyway, once she had done so she confirmed that we were Guests of the Day and whilst we were welcome to stay and enjoy some food, drink and the views, the lounge was closing in an hour. She told us that if we preferred, we could return the next day between 0630 and 1630. So, this is what we decided to do. The hotel itself certainly had the wow factor. It’s very clean, fully air conditioned and everyone seemed smiley and happy. Our room was comfortable and clean and whilst there was a bottle of water for each of us in our room, it would’ve been nicer to have been in the fridge as it was 35 degrees that day! The air conditioning was amazing and I particularly liked the mood lighting. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was impressive with a lovely large bath in and a power shower. We returned to the lounge the next morning and was pleasantly surprised by a lovely complimentary breakfast - croissants, muffins, vegetable tarts, overnight oats, cereals, toast & preserves, fruit juices, water, tea, coffee etc. It really was beautiful and, we just sat and watched the world go by. It was the perfect start to our day. Thankyou for the complimentary upgrade Park Plaza. I am now in the process of booking a return - perhaps for my husband’s birthday? We have stayed in London many times but this hotel is a firm favourite :)

1st ever trip to London.

Dennis the doorman was phenomenal in assisting us after checkout. Can’t thank him enough. The hotel is in an excellent Vauxhall location along the riverbank. Spent a lot of time at the Little Yellow Boat pub just steps from the hotel lobby. Excellent gym and pool. Steam room was super hot but perfect.
