Warm and friendly venue with great interior decor

All of the staff in the breakfast room are super friendly and make you feel very welcome including Natalia and the doorman Lamesh who always smiles and makes you feel welcome. I will back back for regular business meetings!

Big thanks to Ryan and Lamesh - I remember them both from a year ago, and once again this stay they were so friendly and helpful. They honestly made my visit. Thank you!

Style over substance

sea containers did not live up to the standards of a 5 star establishment. The hotel has potential with beautiful views of the Thames. The front of house staff unfortunately are not trained. On arrival with our 3 kids staff at reception seemed more put out that we were bothering them rather than trying to welcoming us. Despite us saying that it was our first time in the hotel we did not receive any information about the hotel facilities. We received nothing about breakfast times or location, no offer of help with our bags. The breakfast was more in keeping with a 3-4 star rather than a 5 star. There was no variety between the 3 days of our stay. Everything was an underwhelming buffet. Even an omelette which most 4 stars include was extra off an ala carte menu with no live egg station. Selection of fresh breads was poor as was the variety of fruit. The exception was the coffee which was excellent and made by a barista. Service in the restaurant was reasonable but it wasn’t particularly busy when we were there. We can’t really comment on the bars as we didn’t get into any of them. The Lyoness bar looked lovely they seem to prioritise outside clients over guests. There are no reserved tables for hotel guests like in most other 5 stars we got to sit in the lobby which they pretend is a lounge but it’s just a lobby in a hallway. There is only a limited menu in this area. There was no table service when we were in this area. We couldn’t use the rooftop bar at any stage as we were told kids are not allowed there even earlier in the day which again is standard in most bars. This is not a family hotel. Despite all this they had the cheek to put a 5% service charge on the bill and only tell people when they are checking out. I’m sure a lot of people are too polite or embarrassed to say anything. Tipping should always be optional and is meant to be a reward for exceptional service. Staff have stopped caring as they feel they will get it anyway. You state in other reviews a lot of hotels add service charge. I have stage in multiples of 5 star hotels and have never seen this done on a hotel bill. Finally my card was charged an extra €300 without permission supposedly in case we emptied the mini bar. Most establishments don’t actually take money off they card they just authorize it. It seems they are rather slow at repaying it too from others reviews. I will also add despite obviously appearing unsatisfied at checkout I was never once asked how everything. Says it all really…
