Shangri-La The Shard, London

Fabulous stay in an incredible hotel. I was travelling solo with business and felt so safe and secure. Lovely benefit of having a pool and sauna whilst overlooking the views of London.

This is an expensive five star hotel in a prime location where you pay for excellent quality and stunning views. But the best thing is the staff are not in the slightest bit pretentious. They will do anything they can to make your stay happy and memorable and are utterly charming. For me this is somewhere I go for a special treat. You don’t have to stay the night there, you can go for lunch or afternoon tea or dinner and being right by London Bridge station makes it easy to get home. Great hotel.

Shangri-La,The Shards....a famous address in London for a fine dine experience. It's beautifully located, high speed lifts take you to the 35th floor in a wink. The view is mesmerizing. The experience is worth it at least once . A perfect night it was, our wedding anniversary and my daughter's graduation ceremony.... wrapped up the night with Shangri-La. Memories created for lifetime.

Great location, beautiful views, and generally good service from the staff. Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant experience on entry that left me feeling singled out and uncomfortable. After staying at the hotel for three days as a returning guest, I was stopped and asked to have my bag screened, while colleagues entering just behind me walked straight in without any checks. I immediately raised the matter with the guest relations manager, who was polite and helpful, but I do not believe she was fully aware of what happens at ground level with security. The issue was not the existence of security checks themselves, but the inconsistency in how they were applied. I was told the checks were “standard practice,” yet this was clearly not applied equally to all guests. In my experience, security decisions appeared to depend on who was on duty and who they considered suspicious. Hotels should ensure that security procedures are applied consistently and respectfully to every guest. If you are sensitive to this type of experience, it is something worth being aware of before booking.

I had the pleasure to visit the shard twice in April and may. I stayed in the hotel for one night with my husband to celebrate his 60th birthday. We were treated like royalty. Our room was upgraded to a beautiful suite with spectacular views. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his birthday at the hotel. I then took my daughter two weeks later to the gong bar to celebrate her 18th birthday. And yet again the staff went above and beyond to make her birthday so special and helping her make memories.
