If you’re looking for a romantic luxury stay in London… this is it ✨ Our experience at Sofitel London St James felt like stepping into a movie from the very beginning. The welcome was so genuine and warm—it instantly set the tone. We stayed in Room 609, which had this gorgeous green theme—super calming, chic, and perfect for switching off from the city. We spent time in the spa (steam + jacuzzi 💆‍♀️), which was such a relaxing reset. No sauna, but honestly we didn’t miss it. The highlight? Our couple’s massage. Our therapist Flavia and Tatyana were incredible, and my boyfriend loved his too—everything felt so personalised and calming. In the evening, we headed to Duck & Rice—and I’m still thinking about that roast duck 🤤 easily one of the best in London. Perfect little date night. Then we came back… and this is where it got magical 🥹A heart made of rose petals on the bed. The attention to detail was just unreal. Huge thank you to Sandy & Jinny and the team - you made our stay unforgettable. The next morning, breakfast was beautiful. Even though it was busy, the team handled everything with such grace and kindness. Brigitta & Kritika went out of their way to help me get takeaway breakfast for my boyfriend—which I really appreciated. We had plans to go to the gym… but honestly? We recently spent three nights at the Sofitel St. James. The location is perfect for experiencing the historic aspects of downtown London, as well as many delicious restaurants. The nearby parks are great for running and walking.

The Sofitel brand is good. But Sofitel St. James is excellent and exceptional. I have not had a less than manifique experience in all my stays here and this was no different. The staff must meet a lot of guests so it is very heartening to be recognised and welcomed back. It’s central location aside (i.e. you’re close to everything - West End, the attractions and tourist spots, shopping, public transport - so a very great plus) the effortless excellent service on the part of their staff makes it feels like home. In room amenities are excellent as is the bedding that makes for a comfortable and restful sleep. Always worth a return.

Without doubt, Sofitel London St. James is one of the most ideally located hotels in the City; that, coupled with the value, the staff, the ambiance, the clean and modern interior and overall aesthetic, makes this one of the best total packages. It is not too swanky, nor is it overly impacted with the busy, bustling corner it occupies in one of the central locations in the City. Rather, it easily, seamlessly and gracefully combines traditional exterior architecture with modern, clean lines throughout the interior, coupled with top-notch restaurant, bar and tea service offerings as well as a warm, genuine, professional staff across the board. And, above all, it is mere blocks from The Mall, Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square, Green Park, St. James's Park, Pall Mall and many restaurants, bars and conveniences that make its location ideal. And don't be fooled by its position on a busy corner; once inside, the noise is gone and one is left with the warm, fragrant interior of a once proud bank building converted to an elegant hotel space. The rooms (we stayed in 506 and 530) are clean, modern w/out going overboard, and incredibly comfortable - just what is needed to recoup after a long day of walking this infinitely interesting and highly mobile (read: walking/busing/tubing) city. Dollar for dollar, this is an excellent value -- and that shouldn't be viewed as a negative by those accustomed to much higher end venues. Rather, this hotel is comfortable in its own skin and doesn't need to, nor does it attempt to, try to be anything other than a truly outstanding, well run, clean, efficient establishment in the heart of the UK capital city. We will return in future trips to the UK.

The hotel is housed in a beautiful building; most Sofitel perks and details are present, but amenities are limited. The gym is very small, and some equipment was out of service. I paid nearly $700 USD per night, and it feels like the value for money falls short compared to other Sofitel hotels: Amsterdam (Grand), Mexico City, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Buenos Aires, among others. As an Accor Platinum member, I was “upgraded” to a room that had a terrible view—basically a wall. There are no true blackout blinds; the sunlight woke me up every morning.
