I stayed here over 30 years ago before Taj bought the hotel, and it was fine. I even stayed in a Taj hotel in India, and it was great. But the combination leaves something to be desired. I booked two rooms, one was fine. The other was a little bigger, but I was told there was a temporary problem with the TV, which they are working on. As compensation, we got a complimentary spa treatment, which on the surface seemed fine. In reality, I was there for 2 nights, and the TV wouldn't work beyond show the Taj commercial constantly on the menu screen. The spa treatment required a bathing suit, which we didn't have, but the hotel was willing to sell us one. Regarding the service, the staff was agreeable and pleasant. But when it came to fixing a problem, like the TV, they were ultimately unhelpful. For example, I called to the lobby about fixing the TV and they said someone will come up and take a look. No one showed up. I even walked down to the lobby and talked to someone at the front desk, and they said someone will come up and take a look and no one showed up. Regarding the hotel restaurant, it was fine for breakfast, because they have a buffet. We didn't go there for lunch, but for dinner it basically becomes an Indian restaurant. For me a little curry powder goes a long way, unfortunately, they put a lot of it on my chicken and fries. I can honestly say I will not be going back to this hotel.

I stayed 2 nights while there on part business and solo stay. Here are pros: Great location, close to all station, walk to lots of near by attractions such as big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Chinatown, Trafalgar square etc Great food. Here are cons: I stayed many Taj hotels. Here I felt that staff did not care especially I am indian origin. However the same staff is going above and beyond for other nationals. I came but early but did not offer any offerings. Came back and just normal check in, not much information provided to me about hotel amenities. My room is super small, luckily I was solo so survive. I have guest came to meet me and I asked many times how can I order some refreshments and I got so many answers. I thought I could just ask someone and they should just come and take an order. I agree at that time staff may be busy with breakfast ending at 11:30 but some help would be nice. When I check out, I was not offered any help with luggage but some other guests did get all the help at the same time. Now I am going to stay at another Taj and I am wondering should I go or change the plan.
