Designer Philippe Starck conceived St Martins Lane London as a surrealist wonderland viewed through the looking glass of classic British eccentric taste. Cheeky and daring with a touch decadent, the lobby and social spaces are signature Starck style. It’s fitting that the hotel is situated in the bustling theatre district in Covent Garden - it is pure drama. Just ask the garden gnomes; this is classic London with a seriously seductive twist. Floor-to-ceiling windows at St Martins Lane pull the cityscape into each guest room, offering a dramatic perspective on the energetic city below. The Tim Andreas of Banjo design rooms evoke a sense of spaciousness and luxury by using a mix of both naturally inspired and modern materials. The overall effect is an ethereal, yet sensuous experience.

Simo took care of us. He was super nice and kind. The hotel is in a spectacular area, super central, you can reach whatever attraction in less than 10 mins. I strongly recommend ☺️

I wouldn’t call this a 5 star hotel or experience. Check in was disappointing, a very impersonal greeting despite being an All Diamond member, no upgrade provided despite me reminding them of this entitlement - in fact even the times for breakfast weren’t mentioned. The room itself was comfortable and fairly spacious, but the furnishings clearly show their age and are chipped and damaged. The bathroom needs a refurbishment with the shower having visible mold. The multiple accessories and, candle etc (even the laundry bag) each with a big price tag is tacky. The bedroom shouldn’t be used a a store front and I have never seen this before in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was included but was repetitive and limited - the buffet items never changed during the 5 days I was there and when I ordered from the menu for an extra £10 I got a quite frankly ridiculous single poached egg on my avocado toast - it’s was almost laughable. The only positive thing to be honest was the location which was ideal for my visit. But location itself can’t possibly remedy the multiple shortcomings. Very disappointed and nowhere near meeting the expectations.

This our second visit to St Martins Lane. Our first was 11years ago when we got engaged and on the occasion of our 10th wedding anniversary we went back however I now wish we hadn’t. St Martins is marketed as a ‘luxury’ hotel with prices to match. One of the positives is its location on the edge of Covent Garden but quite frankly I expected more for a £500per night stay. The room was adequate but small, far too small to spend any time in and our view through windows which obviously hadn’t been cleaned for some time was a brick wall. We paid in advance for breakfast which was a very basic buffet. 3 hot items, a selection of bread and some fruit and cereal. We could have a la carte but for an additional charge. On our return from the theatre We went to the ‘exclusive’ bar for a late night drink but were challenged at the door as we hadn’t made a reservation (despite being resident) . On entry the bar was mostly empty with another 4 couples. All in all very disappointing and not ‘luxury’ at all. If you are happy with adequate fine go for it but if your budget runs to £500 per night I think you will find better value elsewhere.

The hotel experience was exceptional. At check-in, I was greeted by wonderful people, and I'm so grateful that Maame, AJ, Paulina, and Vi welcomed me and made me feel right at home. I'm also grateful to the bellmans, Didar and Aldo, who helped me with my luggage and gave great recommendations for places to visit. What surprised me was that reception is open 24/7. I arrived at the hotel in the early hours and lost my keys, which made me feel terrible, but Reinis and Adam told me not to worry, that it was normal, haha. So, 10/10 for the entire front desk team. At dinner, Joao and Ivette gave me recommendations about the menu, and they were absolutely right (the food was quite good), so I was very happy with them and also with Gabriel, the waiter, who is a delight. When it was time to check out, Simo and Bryan were at reception, and the conversation with them was wonderful; I was delighted with the service. Both the welcome and the farewell were spectacular. Thank you for everything!

A very nice hotel situated in the heart of London. A lot of attractions reachable within 15 minutes of walking distance. Breakfast yummy, staff friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Monika and Phil :-)
