Designer Philippe Starck conceived St Martins Lane London as a surrealist wonderland viewed through the looking glass of classic British eccentric taste. Cheeky and daring with a touch decadent, the lobby and social spaces are signature Starck style. It’s fitting that the hotel is situated in the bustling theatre district in Covent Garden - it is pure drama. Just ask the garden gnomes; this is classic London with a seriously seductive twist. Floor-to-ceiling windows at St Martins Lane pull the cityscape into each guest room, offering a dramatic perspective on the energetic city below. The Tim Andreas of Banjo design rooms evoke a sense of spaciousness and luxury by using a mix of both naturally inspired and modern materials. The overall effect is an ethereal, yet sensuous experience.

Wonderful experience. Katerina of reservations was genuinely warm and welcoming, and empathetic. She was super helpful. Andrew at the front desk is a rock star. I enjoyed interacting with him, and he came through in the clutch when I required assistance. And Thirag at the restaurant exemplifies what terrific hotel service should be. Try the Indian dishes on the restaurant’s room service menu; they're some of the best I’ve had.

From the time I was checked in by the delight Maame and given an upgraded room due to being a Accor Platinum member my stay was fantastic. Large room walk in shower and very quiet for the theatre district. My daily chats with the very professional and witty Ilidio and his knowledge of the area was astounding. Hotel is in a fantastic location near Covent Garden and all staff were fantastic.

Centrally placed for theatre district, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery. Room on 3rd floor over looked side of The Coliseum. Twin beds comfy but pillows hard. Only one plug socket next to one of the twin beds. Old marks on mirror not cleaned off. Bathroom cold as no heating or heated towel rails. Good shower with frosted glass to both shower and toilet - no solid door to bathroom. Breakfast ok but not 5 star. Staff very friendly and helpful. Toilets on ground floor for guests need a refurbishment and let down the hotel. Staff loaned 2 umbrellas for use due to weather and stored luggage till later in the day having checked out in the morning. Would stay again but not for £360 for a twin room
