About the Hotel

Designer Philippe Starck conceived St Martins Lane London as a surrealist wonderland viewed through the looking glass of classic British eccentric taste. Cheeky and daring with a touch decadent, the lobby and social spaces are signature Starck style. It’s fitting that the hotel is situated in the bustling theatre district in Covent Garden - it is pure drama. Just ask the garden gnomes; this is classic London with a seriously seductive twist. Floor-to-ceiling windows at St Martins Lane pull the cityscape into each guest room, offering a dramatic perspective on the energetic city below. The Tim Andreas of Banjo design rooms evoke a sense of spaciousness and luxury by using a mix of both naturally inspired and modern materials. The overall effect is an ethereal, yet sensuous experience.

Reviews for St Martins Lane London

From Disappointment to Delight Thanks to Fontina’s Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Our stay at St Martins Lane Hotel got off to a rocky start with room cleanliness issues and slow breakfast service. We were close to moving to another hotel (we generally stay at Sofitel Hotels) but Fontina completely turned things around. Her warm, professional, and personalised service made us feel valued and welcome. She is the reason we would consider returning.

Excellent Staff & Service in Paradise

Loved the stay, from the scented towels, lovely appliances and most of all the STAFF. All so loving and charming. Helped us every step of the way, accommodating and resourceful. Location is perfect , was able to walk to everything.

Excellent stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I joined the hotel on Friday for a night had an excellent stay, compact room everything as expected. The real difference was made by the night team and especially Alexandros who with his hospitality he truly made the stay special, I even extended my flight to spend more time in the bar. A big thank you to Antonio for the help with my bags to Reinis for his support with my reservation and of course to Alexandros, I will be reaching directly for my next visit.

Disappointing Stay – Needs Management Attention

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Unfortunately, my stay at St Martins Lane was far from great. From the moment I arrived, something felt off. There was a noticeable lack of warmth or attention in the staff interactions, and the service overall was disappointing. The only real positive was the hotel’s location – it’s fantastic and very central. I also quite liked the doorman he was very warm welcoming, but that’s where the compliments end. The front desk experience was particularly frustrating: I had to wait three separate times because no staff were present at all. When someone did appear, they seemed lost and stressed. For a hotel charging premium rates, the service should reflect that – and it simply didn’t. This property really needs some management oversight to address these issues. With better attention to guest service, this hotel has potential, but right now, it’s not somewhere I would return to.

A Love Letter to St Martins Lane: Our London Home Away from Home

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I’ve stayed at St Martins Lane multiple times, but this particular trip was especially memorable. I don’t write reviews often, but this experience was so special, I had to. The team didn’t even know, but my partner and I were celebrating 16 years together—so the fact that everyone was so kind and welcoming without even knowing that made it all the more meaningful. We flew in for just one night before heading to the countryside for a retreat and hadn’t planned to return—we were hoping to try other hotels. But the staff—especially the charming and hilarious Alexandros and the lovely Vi—made us feel so cared for during that one night that we changed our plans and returned for the second leg of our trip, staying an extra three nights. To our delight, the team recognized us when we came back and upgraded our room! All the rooms are lovely, by the way, but given how much luggage we had, we really appreciated the extra space—and the gorgeous bathtub didn’t hurt either. The service—from every single person—was truly the best I’ve ever experienced. I used the business center every morning, we enjoyed incredible breakfasts daily, and each interaction with the staff was consistently warm, kind, and attentive. I was so impressed by the balance they strike here: the polish and comfort of a luxury hotel, with the warmth and intimacy of a boutique one. I just loved it. We now lovingly refer to St Martins Lane as “our” hotel and honestly can’t imagine staying anywhere else in London. A special thank you again to Alex for your hospitality and generosity—you made our stay feel extra special (without even knowing how special it already was!). And thank you to Patricio, who took such great care of our room—we remembered him from our trip a few months ago! And to the friendliest and coolest doormen—Ilidio, Dimitur, and Visa—who greeted us with warmth and humor every day, helped manage our many pieces of luggage, and made us feel so at home. ❤️ What really stands out about St Martins Lane is how genuine the hospitality feels. I truly believe that kind of guest experience only happens when the team truly enjoys where they work—and that points to strong, thoughtful leadership. When the team is happy, the guests feel it too. So to whoever is managing the front desk and team downstairs: hats off to you. And yes, I know St Martins Lane isn’t the cheapest place to stay 😅—but if you’re looking for a touch of luxury, kind people, and a perfect central location, it’s absolutely worth it. Between the food (even the room service is delicious!), the atmosphere, and most importantly, the people—I simply can’t stay anywhere else. Really, I can’t. My poor wallet. I didn’t think I could be any more loyal to this place. But I am. ❤️ Thank you all again. We will be back soon!
