We travel to the UK at least once a year for a min 7 to 10 days each time to visit family and friends and thought we'd give the Westin a try since we haven't stayed here before. We were pleasantly surprised. Pros: 1. The biggest advantage of the Westin is the service and friendliness of the staff. Everyone we interacted were very welcoming from the bellmen to the staff at the front desk (actually 4th floor desk since check-in is on the 4th floor -haha). But the staff at Mosaic were the best. Everyone was very attentive and there is always someone available to help you if you need anything - it reminds us more of the service you get in Asia. Specifically, we would like to thank Alejandro, Manisha, Maribel, and Cristina, but there were many more who we did not catch their names. Thank you to you all. 2. Location: There are at least 3 underground stations within 5 min walk of the Westin (Mansion House, Cannon St, Bank , as well as St Paul's) which means that you can get onto your choice of underground lines which takes you to your destination the quickest. But even better is that many places are within 10-15 min walk including many many pubs ! Note however that because you are located in the City (business district) , some shops/restaurants/pub are either not open or have earlier closing times at the weekend. This didn't really bother us as you just need to walk 5 min further west towards Blackfriars and Covent Garden. 3. Soundproofing is very good considering the hotel spans busy Upper Thames St. Much better than some of the hotels we have stayed in. The layout of the hotel means that you don't need to cross the street so depending on whether you want o go north to St Paul's or south to Bankside and Borough market, you can take the north or south exit. Cons: Not much to mention here except the fact that if you are taking a black cab from Paddington or coming from the west side of London, the driver will need to make a detour south across Blackfriars bridge and then back up north on Southwark bridge to drop you at the hotel. This is because there is a barrier in the middle of the street on which the Westin is on which prevents the cab from making any U-turn. This is a bit of inconvenience if you ever need to take a cab to the hotel, but not a big deal. You don't get much of a view of the river except from the Hithe&Seek bar but it didn't bother us. Great hotel and we plan to be back next year.
