About the Hotel

A 19th-century beauty meets the London of today: that’s what you’ll find at Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel. From the outside, the landmark building, which occupies a full block along the eastern side of Russell Square in Bloomsbury, looks every bit the part of grande dame. Inside, though, contemporary interiors beckon the discerning traveler to settle in and stay a while—Negroni (or two) in hand. Live like a Londoner on Russell Square. With one foot in the city’s past and another in its present, our Bloomsbury location combines British creative heritage with modern amenities.Presiding gracefully over Russell Square, with a stylish restaurant, Champagne and afternoon tea lounge, a cafe, destination cocktail bar and gym, our 334-room hotel turns every event into a memorable occasion. With a nod to 20s glamour and British irreverence, such as the Kit Miles cushions depicting our resident dragon, Lucky George, each luxuriously styled bedroom by Tara Bernerd & Partners beautifully reflects the rich history of our iconic hotel. Uniquely Kimpton in-room extras include a mug featuring George the dragon and yoga mat to help you feel at home.

Great Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Wow.........my wife and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary to the Kimpton Fitzroy and could not have asked for it to have been a better experience. The location is perfect to get to all areas of London. The room was perfect and we especially loved the breakfast each morning. The staff was very attentive and have no doubt that when we go back to London we will be staying there again.

A Truly Special 5-Star Birthday Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We stayed at the Kimpton Fitzroy London for three nights in Room 746 to celebrate a special birthday, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. From check-in onwards, every member of staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming. The team made us feel genuinely valued throughout our stay and helped make the birthday celebration even more special. We did experience a small issue with the air conditioning in the bedroom. However, after reporting it before breakfast, it had been completely resolved by the time we returned to the room afterwards. We were very impressed with how quickly and efficiently the issue was dealt with. The only meals we had in the hotel were breakfast each morning, and these were excellent. A special mention must go to Ella. She was off on Sunday, but when she returned on Monday, she remembered us from Saturday, which was a lovely personal touch and demonstrated the high level of care and attention provided by the staff. Ella was always friendly, professional, and smiling, making each breakfast feel that little bit more special. The Kimpton Fitzroy is a beautiful hotel, but what really sets it apart is the outstanding service from the team. They helped turn an important birthday celebration into a truly memorable occasion. We would highly recommend the Kimpton Fitzroy London for anyone celebrating a special occasion. A genuine 5-star experience.

Terrible room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

While the building is beautiful from the outside, the room we had was one of the worst ever. We travel to Europe several times a year, so accustomed to size disparities from the US, but we had the smallest room ever without space for our luggage. The bed was slanted and uneven. The staff made no attempts at changing the room . Front desk staff terrible. The good- the staff at the restaurant and the concierge great. Not sure how it gets such a high rating. Heard great things about the Marriott- that’s where we’ll be next time ( November).

A sense of history and an architectural gem

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed in this beautiful hotel for 2 nights in July. My son held his wedding here and several of us stayed. Room rates were ambiguous - each of our party paid a different rate - and the rates are not cheap. Don't expect large rooms - this is an old hotel and rooms are far from generous but they are well appointed. Started our stay with a hiccup. The allotted suite initially chosen by the bride and groom had been booked out to another guest and my daughter-in-law was offered a suite which was a disjointed rabbit warren of spaces. Not conducive to the bridal party's planned hair/makeup/champagne for morning of the wedding. After a fraught wait, some tears and some raised voices, the hotel came through and peace reigned. From that moment, I cannot fault the service we received. The staff were second to none, immaculate, friendly service, super and genuine 5*. From the breakfast servers to the bar staff to the staff waiting at the wedding. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious and of excellent quality. The management waived several costs for the happy couple as reparation for the initial upset. Would highly recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Good location for our needs

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed here for four nights in July, booking two rooms for ourselves and our daughters. We have been to London on many occasions and chose this hotel for its location to the tube and train lines given we were in London for a concert at Wembly and an F1 race at Silverstone. The location was perfect for our needs. The rooms were small, and our King room had a very steep tub that you needed to climb over to shower. We are fit, and this was very dangerous. Not only that, but the shower head was incredibly low…my 6ft husband had to hunch over to shower. The queen room that my daughters shared had a much safer stall shower. Bottom line, this is a solid hotel for the price in London….service was just ok, you certainly won’t feel special….but it had good air conditioning and job the job done.
