About the Hotel

A 19th-century beauty meets the London of today: that’s what you’ll find at Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel. From the outside, the landmark building, which occupies a full block along the eastern side of Russell Square in Bloomsbury, looks every bit the part of grande dame. Inside, though, contemporary interiors beckon the discerning traveler to settle in and stay a while—Negroni (or two) in hand. Live like a Londoner on Russell Square. With one foot in the city’s past and another in its present, our Bloomsbury location combines British creative heritage with modern amenities.Presiding gracefully over Russell Square, with a stylish restaurant, Champagne and afternoon tea lounge, a cafe, destination cocktail bar and gym, our 334-room hotel turns every event into a memorable occasion. With a nod to 20s glamour and British irreverence, such as the Kit Miles cushions depicting our resident dragon, Lucky George, each luxuriously styled bedroom by Tara Bernerd & Partners beautifully reflects the rich history of our iconic hotel. Uniquely Kimpton in-room extras include a mug featuring George the dragon and yoga mat to help you feel at home.

Reviews for Kimpton Fitzroy London

Amazing place

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

This was my fourth stay here. I absolutely love the location which is why I picked it originally but keep coming back because of the comfort and wonderful staff. Everyone is helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that I always end up in a back room and have to listen to neighboring ventilation noise in the night. Hopefully next trip I'll get a park-facing room. I do better with traffic noise for some reason.

Perfectly situated, beautiful hotel

The Kimpton Fitzroy is perfectly positioned for enjoying all London has to offer. My husband and I stayed here last me night at the end of a fabulous trip to the UK. The hotel feels opulent, with a grand marble staircase & fireplace. The good: the shower had the best water pressure & temperature controls of all the places we stayed on this trip. The breakfast buffet was fantastic & well worth the price! The staff were lovely, especially the guy at the front of house of the bar, who managed to squeeze us in for a final nightcap. I also loved the social hour! We met so many people while enjoying our free glass of wine. The only slightly nitpicky thing I can think of is that the room was the typical small London sized room. I would definitely return to this hotel again (especially on points!)

Wonderful stay at a charming historic Hotel.

The Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel is a beautiful classically designed building in a great location alongside Russell Square. Hotel staff is cheerful, polite and accommodating. From David welcoming you at the door to Elliott handling our baggage, we felt welcome and well taken care of. When either leaving in the morning to venture out and discover London or returning back after a tasty dinner and a pint at the local Pub, these cheary chaps would strike up a conversation to hear about day and welcome us back. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider returning should we visit London again.

Beautiful Hotel, Great Team but Front Desk always a let down

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stay at the Kimpton Fitzroy a few times a year. The Hotel is beautiful -- excellent common areas, modern, stylish suites with excellent views and a great gym. Most members of the team are great -- concierge is superb, housekeeping & maintenance and friendly & helpful, restaurant staff are prompt & polite. The Front Desk has always been a disappointment, perhaps because of the heavy guest load. But this time I found it so chaotic, disorganized and straight unhelpful that it detracted materially from the experience — to the extent that I am likely to stay at a different hotel from next time. A few examples: (i) at check-in, refusing to provide any estimate of when the room might be ready (not helpful if I am trying to plan my afternoon), (ii) not acknowledging IHG status or any benefits, even after the status is brought up (the concept of IHG status is foreign to some members of the Front Desk I guess), (iii) claiming ignorance about any emails exchanged with hotel reservations (who were kind enough to reach out themselves to politely check for special requests, all of which were confirmed over email and none of which the Front Desk acknowledged or complied with), (iv) denying late check-out even till 2pm, (v) not picking up the phone 50% of the time, and then not conveying requests to housekeeping/maintenance half the time when the phone is picked up, and on & on. Basically with almost every interaction, I felt let down by the Front Desk — a contrast to my experience at other IHG properties. Thus what otherwise deserves to be a five star experience becomes something much less.
