About the Hotel

A 19th-century beauty meets the London of today: that’s what you’ll find at Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel. From the outside, the landmark building, which occupies a full block along the eastern side of Russell Square in Bloomsbury, looks every bit the part of grande dame. Inside, though, contemporary interiors beckon the discerning traveler to settle in and stay a while—Negroni (or two) in hand. Live like a Londoner on Russell Square. With one foot in the city’s past and another in its present, our Bloomsbury location combines British creative heritage with modern amenities.Presiding gracefully over Russell Square, with a stylish restaurant, Champagne and afternoon tea lounge, a cafe, destination cocktail bar and gym, our 334-room hotel turns every event into a memorable occasion. With a nod to 20s glamour and British irreverence, such as the Kit Miles cushions depicting our resident dragon, Lucky George, each luxuriously styled bedroom by Tara Bernerd & Partners beautifully reflects the rich history of our iconic hotel. Uniquely Kimpton in-room extras include a mug featuring George the dragon and yoga mat to help you feel at home.

Reviews for Kimpton Fitzroy London

Simply gorgeous

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

Truly beautiful historic hotel inside and out. Got a great price on a Friday night for a single room which wasn't too small and bed fantastic. All staff super friendly although the lovely bar was busy and rushed of their feet especially as most orders were cocktails. So me ordering a beer at the bar was frustratinglu slow which needs to be improved despite the obvious skills of the mixologists. Terrific Grasshopper though. And no coffee for the room coffee machine? But Fillet Steak next day was terrific in the gorgeous Titanic connection restaurant. (I'm from Southampton). Definitely stay here again if I get a good price, the historic beauty just limgers in your mind. And finally I stupidly left a wash bag in the room, got it back now. All very professional. Thanks.

Another super-special stay at The Kimpton Fitzroy.

We have stayed regularly over the past 4 years and each and every visit has been special. The hotel itself is stunning and centrally located to be able to explore London, however it really is the team that make every stay memorable. From doorman to reception (Ellie B and team), guest relations (Roksana, Angela and Lottie) and Food a Beverage (Tolga and Team) - everyone goes out of their way to cater for their guests. Truly a credit to the Kimpton brand, we look forward to staying with you again.

A Stunning Hotel with a Few Rough Edges — But We Will Return

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The Kimpton Fitzroy London is genuinely beautiful, inside and out. Its location on Russell Square puts you at the center of everything you'll want to do in the city, and the staff throughout our stay were warm, helpful, and genuinely eager to assist with whatever came up. That said, a couple of things didn't quite land. On arrival, we were offered the charming option of having a plant delivered to our room for the duration of our stay — a lovely, quirky touch that we happily accepted. It never arrived. Small thing, but when a hotel sets an expectation like that, it's worth following through. The other snag was at breakfast. If you're hoping to grab a croissant or a yogurt without committing to the full £32 buffet, be prepared — those items apparently aren't available à la carte. Fortunately, our waiter Fedro stepped in and sorted it out beautifully. He was an absolute standout and a real asset to the team. Overall, the Fitzroy's combination of stunning architecture, a superb location, and genuinely friendly service makes it easy to recommend. A little more attention to the details would make it exceptional.

Somewhat disappointing!

The Fitzroy is located on some of London's premier real-estate on Russel Square and situated in a stunning Victorian luxury hotel; the opulent architecture of Charles Fitzroy Doll is truly amazing. IHG/Kimpton have stylishly renovated/updated the rooms to make for a comfortable modern stay. This was not however a 5 star experience for us! I get the 'shabby chic' theme, but the welcome to the hotel by the doormen was missing the 'chic'. The room was small, fine if you were a single person staying for night and only needing to unpack your overnight toothbrush, but not a couple staying a few days! The invitation to 'happy hour' was welcome but actually was 'a' drink - that was half a glass of wine at the end of the bottle! Take a hospitality lesson from some of the other IHG brands! Breakfast was good, but all-in-all, not really a luxury experience at all. Even in London, there is better value than this.

Breakfast service by ANDREA was absolutely phenomenal. She was very attentive, observant, polite, and very kind to EVERYONE she was serving, no matter who it was. She deserves a reward for her amazing service. You can tell she is genuine 😊
