Kimpton Fitzroy London

One night stay . Hotel from outside looks stunning . Very dark inside and is long and thin rather than deep with lots of rooms / bars / lobby’s downstairs which are cool to explore . Staff friendly however room was showing signs of being tired ( carpet threadbare where you step out of bed and also step into bathroom) Room was very small and not comparable in value to other similar hotels. I would say it’s a border 4/5 star and has aged quickly. Only feels like a few years ago it had a full refurb.

The Kimpton Fitzroy is the perfect place to stay in London for business and tourism. This is a historical hotel with very professional staff. The room was extremely quiet and the air conditioning kept it comfortable. The room was spotless and the bathroom is very funcional. The front desk staff was excellent and friendly. Right next to the underground for ease of travel.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. A family wedding. The bedroom was rather small. No dressing table as such, and we had to ‘give way’ to each other if we wanted to walk past the bottom of the bed to get to the wardrobe. On night one we ate in the cocktail bar. My overall thoughts were that it was all slightly odd. It was very dark in there. The chairs were big but the tables were tiny, which if you’re having sharing plates, which we did, was a bit of a challenge. The cocktails weren’t really that good but that could of course been a poor choice on my part. Style overtook substance. Breakfast was very tasty but the tables lacked small plates and butter knives. We had to ask for these and, having checked other tables, could see they aren’t part of the lay up. The wedding catering and service was excellent. All of the staff super friendly.

We stayed at the Kimpton Fitzroy for two evenings during the first weekend in September. It is ideally located it is just around the corner from Russell Square tube station. While there, we had the absolute best stay. As we entered the hotel, the doorman David remembered us from a previous stay. As we entered our room, the suite we were staying in was not only beautiful, but absolutely spotless. The ambience of the hotel enables you to chill from merely walking up the steps to enter. On the second evening, we joined the social hour and then ate at the restaurant. When we entered we were reunited with Marina, who who met on a previous visit. It felt like we had returned to visit a friend as she remember my husband and I. Following the best food that I have eaten since the previous visit here, we entered Fitz' bar. We were lucky enough to be looked after all night by Artem. Every member of staff who we were lucky enough to encounter simply helped to make the trip all the more special. We were fortunate enough to be reunited with Rosemary and Roksana who did so much behind the scenes to make our stay special beyond our wildest dreams. When we return to this hotel, we are just staying in a room/suite, but we are returning for pure luxury on a level that comes with the best and most attentive and friendly staff.

The historic building of this hotel creates a truly unique atmosphere. One feels as if one is living in a medieval castle. The rooms are small but cozy, the linens are clean, and the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are a bit small. The breakfast is good, but perhaps not quite up to the standard one might expect from such a high-class hotel. All in all, though, the hotel is recommended.
