Not 5 Stars! They need retraining!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This property was not as expected, and if you are a consistent 5 star property guest you will agree. The property was emailed before we arrived requesting accommodation for the room to enhance the birthday trip and no response was received and nothing was done. Then 24 hours after we were on property they responded with - oh we see that you are already checked in - oh well. Check-in was very unfriendly, bland and not welcoming at all. It was basically - here are your keys, no smile no questions outside of credit card and ID request. There was a bellman who did collect our items when we arrived and promptly moved them to our room. Additionally when we needed to ask for directions there was no concierge at the desk, we actually never saw anyone behind that desk the entire stay. When looking to the doorman and reception desk staff for help the response was "oh I can't help you" with hands raised in the air and body language backing away - without them event trying to listen to the assistance request. At least three people did this and at that point I was trying not to take it personally. Instead I was told I could wait 20 mins for the concierge to return if I wanted too. There was a huge parade that shut down the main access street to the hotel the day after we arrived which almost made us late for a tour - Why no one noted this would be happening when we checked in boggles me completely. They left a note for us about a fire alarm test though! I can at least be grateful for that. I tried to check out of the hotel for the remainder of our stay to switch to the Four Season however, they would not do a refund for the remaining days and instead told our travel agent that they would call us to discuss. No call ever came. Instead they left a bottle of champagne in our room - I was traveling with my 13yo and I don't drink. Epic fail there on behalf of management. Also side note they do not have a house car available but thankfully my elite status at the Four Seasons where I should have stayed (did not have rooms for full trip) sent us a car and their concierge assisted me the remainder of the trip. We tried the room service menu but the food was also terrible, so we walked over to Nobu for dinner instead. The bed is definitely comfortable and the water pressure was fantastic. The housekeeping staff are also very thorough and timely. At most this is a 4 star property but their service and team are dragging them down to a 3 star level.

1st Time visiting London

My stay was absolutely wonderful. The accommodations were quaint, cozy, and had an understated luxury. The restaurant was also delicious. When I needed assistance, staff was quite helpful. I especially enjoyed Gary the Dorman, who was lovely to chat with and gave me plenty of tips for travels that made my stay not only comfortable but lots of fun. The location was fantastic. I was able to get plenty of exploration in only a 2 1/2 day stay, highly recommend.!

Perfect first trip to London

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I chose this hotel for the location in Mayfair for personal reasons, but I had no idea how ideally situated it would be for what our plans were. No matter where we wanted to go, with the exception of one place, it was a 20 minute walk or less. And for trips that were further out, the tube station was less than 5 minutes away (walking). The only time we had to take a cab was to and from the airport. The staff were overall exceptional. I was unable to book online because I needed two rooms but for different check out dates, and still have adjoining rooms for the overlapping days. The staff responded to my email questions promptly and made the whole process seamless. The next time I go to London, I will definitely stay here again.
