It’s quite a nice value because I booked through FHR. The front desk in general is very friendly and welcoming with just one or two people who have a dead face. The room is very clean, spacious and the chair is comfy for working. It had a nice pool, but it was too cold to be outside. It would have been a 5 star but the food options suck because there seems to be just one restaurant on the ground floor, Nettuno. It was a Monday and I was working, but trying to get just brunch around 10:30 AM, I had to wait for 45 mns, so I just put in the order for takeout and came down to pick later. The sky room seems to be nice for dates or fancy dinner, but I was sat down for at least 15 mns until someone came over with a glass of water. The food is expensive. In general, the room is fantastic in terms of cleanliness and view ( staying at least 6th floor or higher). However, the food options, they can do better. Maybe walk a few blocks and get way cheaper and better food options. It’s almost like a contrast between what’s offered by the hotel vs. the dining places. You will see what’s in my brunch box along with 3 sausages for 45$.

The Good: - The rooms are spacious enough. Although, you can tell they tried to jam in as much furniture as they can, it's a decent size. - The rooms were beautiful with all updated stuff. - The location of the hotel was a pleasant surprise. there was actually a lot to do in the Long Beach downtown area and the beach is right next door! The Bad: - The gym wasn't as spacious as I thought it should be. However, the hotel itself is near the beach and in an excellent location so going out for a run and workout was actually better. - For being a rather NEW hotel, I didn't feel that the rooms were THAT clean. The floors had marks on them and there seemed to be dust in certain areas. -The hallways had stains on the carpet and didn't look like they were attended to very well. The Ugly: - $50 a day for parking is a bit too steep! - There was LOUD guests that were signing and talking really loudly late into the night, that I wasn't very fond of. But, I called security and they responded to the noise right away. I also wonder if the noise was loud because the walls weren't very thick? The Excellent: - The decor in the main area is beautiful. The lobby when you walk in, is beautiful! - The different restaurant choices looked great. I didn't eat at any of the restaurants, but I did sit at the bar area across from the lobby and received excellent service. - The sauna/spa area is beautiful and the staff in the spa are so nice! the steam room was a plus and the staff kept the spa area really clean and neat.

We stayed for 1 night using our Amex FHR benefit, and this might have been my wife and I’s favorite FHR stay yet! Our room was ready upon check in, and the staff explained the benefits of our stay and gave us a paper copy. She confirmed that our new born crib was in our room. We used our $100 property credit and $60 breakfast credit on room service and was happy with the service and food! The room had a nice view of long beach and the port of LA. Bonus tip: Parking at the adjacent convention center lot was much cheaper than the valet option.

I'm so lucky to have a travel agent who keeps up with newish & great places to stay! As soon as I booked the Seabourn Sojourn cruise from Long Beach in mid- December she urged me to stay here. I never plan to arrive the day of any cruise because air travel is so iffy this time of year so I booked 2 nights. It was simply a lovely, lovely stay! I was upgraded to a beautiful suite with a harbor view because I recently had a significant birthday, & was it ever lovely! There was a view of the harbor but sadly it was partially obscured by the pesky fog. The entire staff from every department couldn't have been nicer & more helpful. My travel friends arrived soon after & we enjoyed breakfast for 2 days prior to the cruise. The breakfast staff was, once again, so nice, answering question about where to go. We all wanted to pack them up & take them home with us! In the evening we had dinner in the upstairs restaurant & I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful the black cod was! Kudos to the chef & the waitstaff. In fact...kudos to everyone in this amazing hotel. Obviously I will stay there again should I ever sail from Long Beach (or anywhere close by.) Not that this is important to spring & summer travelers, but the Christmas decorations were gorgeous.

We flew in to Long Beach for a cheer competition the first weekend in December. I was trying to find a hotel within walking distance of the convention center but also wanted to use my Amex FHR benefits as we needed a late check out due to flight times. That’s how we came across the Fairmont. It did not disappoint. Shortly after booking, I received an email from the concierge with some details about the hotel and an offer to assist with anything else. They kindly answered a few questions I had about the area. Loved this touch. It gave me high hopes for what we would encounter when we got there. Upon arrival, EVERY SINGLE employee we encountered was amazing. Incredibly personable and helpful and it was enjoyable engaging with them. I take my hat off to management for getting this right. It makes all the difference. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and added to whole elegant vibe. We had the Fairmont room with 2 Queen Beds and a City View. It was plenty big enough and the beds were comfy. They did give us a corner room on the 9th floor and that might have been an “upgrade”. I only booked the most basic room. Housekeeping was great, and consistent. There is a small, empty fridge and we took advantage of that after a quick trip to Vons. They provide 2 larger bottles of complementary water and will continue to give you additional water upon request. We bought a case of water though, so didn’t fuss with it. We drink SO much water that I didn’t want to hassle with it. My only small complaint about the room is the sliding “barn” door type door that separates the bathroom from the bedroom. It didn’t slide easily and seemed there was always a little bit of a gap. Not a huge deal though. With FHR, you get $60 in credit for breakfast in the mornings. You can head downstairs to Nettuno and eat there, or they will apply it towards room service. We only ever did the room service. Just ordered the basic breakfasts and they weren’t terribly exciting, but it did the trick. They will give you a full kettle of coffee of though, which is amazing. It stayed hot all day. We had dinner at Nettuno the first night and used up our $100 credit there. I highly recommend the Burrata app! We didn’t make it to the rooftop bar or restaurant but heard great things from other guests. There were no hassles at all with FHR credits being applied upon check out. As for location, I’m not sure you can beat it. Especially if you are going to the convention center. We had to head that way multiple times a day and it’s a quick and easy walk. I know there are several other hotels in the area that are close and may be closer to the outlets and the water, but we are completely loyal to this hotel now. We couldn’t have had a better trip and can’t wait to go back next year. Thank you to all the staff for such a lovely stay.
