Downtown Los Angeles Proper

I just got back from a few days at DTLA Proper and had such a great time. The staff there really made the difference - everyone from check-in to the valet guys was genuinely friendly and went out of their way to help with whatever we needed. Our room was gorgeous and so comfortable. After being stuck in meetings all day, it felt amazing to come back to somewhere that actually felt relaxing and quiet, which isn't always easy to find downtown. But honestly, dinner at Cara Cara was the best part. The rooftop restaurant has this incredible view of the city, and watching the sunset from up there was pretty special. The food was fantastic too - really creative dishes that tasted as good as they looked. I'm already thinking about when I can get back there. If you're planning a trip to LA and want somewhere that feels special without being over the top, this place is definitely worth checking out.

My second visit to this hotel in two months, and it is exceptional. The staff are in a different league from other Proper Hotels. A stunning roof restaurant and bar (and pool), great rooms, and a calm and professional ambiance which is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff - from the night porter to the Jesus in the breakfast lounge - polite, engaging, and friendly. Without a doubt, my favorite LA hotel for all trips.

The Downtown LA Proper Hotel was hard to leave - I’m already contemplating my return. Hospitality was felt in every interaction with the staff, from the casual conversations outside with the valet crew, to being greeted warmly by a doorman upon every entry and exit from the property, the front desk staff and restaurant staff were equally exceptional. The incredible decor and furnishings in both the shared spaces like the lobby and your private room brought a warmth and liveliness to the experience that you just don’t find at most hotels. The bar at Cara Cara on the rooftop is swoon worthy, I still can’t get over it (the cocktails and ceviche are exceptional additions to the sweeping views) and grabbing a refrigerated eucalyptus towel from the second floor fitness center after walking the streets of LA was such a welcome treat. I loved that the hotel was hosting DJ’s spinning vinyl both Friday and Saturday nights of my stay and can imagine any event this property hosts is worth consideration when planning your itinerary. Grateful for my first Proper experience and looking forward to experiencing the other locations as well as returning to the Downtown LA location.

I had such a fantastic stay at Downtown LA Proper. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the service was perfect from start to finish. I ate at both restaurants and the food was so good. The room I stayed in was amazing. It had a huge window with a full view of Downtown LA, and there was a little seating area right by it. I spent a lot of mornings just hanging out there, reading and taking it all in. I rented a car and used valet pretty often. They were always super quick and efficient, which made everything easy. My cousin came by too and was obsessed with the architecture and decor. She loves taking photos and couldn’t get enough of the vibe. Honestly, everything about the stay was great. Beautiful space, really thoughtful service, and just an overall good energy. I’ll definitely be staying here again the next time I’m in LA.

Good hotel, with convenient location and nice restaurants to stay a few nights. The location was simply very convenient to explore all the tourist spots of LA. Warm and cozy rooms, with great views of downtown. Also the staff was very helpful with our checkin formalities.
