I’ve spent many years as an Ambassador member, and the experience can vary widely. At InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, things simply worked — smoothly and without drama. Check-in was straightforward and personalized. Samy at the front desk clearly understood the context of the stay and what made sense that weekend. We were placed into the Hospitality Suite — an unexpected reminder that this hotel has real depth when the timing, availability, and occasion line up. It felt spontaneous and very much in character for how the rest of the stay unfolded. The remainder of the stay followed the same pattern. Guest Relations (Ariel, Kelly, Michelle, and Amy) left a handwritten note and a few thoughtful touches for a birthday weekend — nothing over the top — just well-timed and genuinely nice. The Club Lounge is well run, with good views and a solid breakfast, but what stood out was how coordinated and relaxed the team felt overall. This is a large downtown hotel with a lot of complex depth behind the scenes — in a good way. Clear processes, capable staff, and a sense that if you engage the loyalty program as intended, the experience scales up naturally. I noticed a lot of human touch and customization throughout the stay, and conversations with other guests in the lounge reflected the same impression. Based on this stay, the team here clearly knows what they’re doing. We’d stay again without hesitation.

We had a great time at paying here. From arrival to leaving it was all super smooth. The location for us was great as we had things to do in different locations and needed something central. We checked in at the Club lounge which was easy and much better then general check in. Breakfast was fine in the lounge and we tried he restaurant once as well. Of particular note should be the doorman Jareal. He is the be at doorman hands down I have ever come across staying at IHG hotels as a Diamond Ambassador. He was friendly, related to my son and sorted transport etc as we needed. A real star that should be recognised. I will stay here again if in LA.

Outstanding service all around from the time we drove up to the time we left. Everyone was courteous. We were particularly pleased with the staff at the hotel restaurant. Specifically, I’d like to commend three people who greeted us warmly each time we went to breakfast: our server, Andrí Susanto, the food and beverage manager, Adriana Mercado and the woman who meets each guest at the front of the restaurant, Brisa.
