Quiet Well-Located Property

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Chose this Kimpton hotel for convenience to Santa Monica and Downtown. Minutes to LAX. Fairly quiet especially rooms on backside away From Wilshire. Very convenient to UCLA. Hotel staff are exceptionally friendly and responsive via text and in person. Extra pillows, minor engineering call all handled promptly Rooms are spacious, yes we were upgraded to a junior suite and that’s appreciated for a 5-night stay. Thank you front desk for recognizing AMEX Platinum reservation and benefits. Really no serious negatives. Restaurant and bar is limited but friendly helpful staff make up For short menu. Self parking is reasonable and this visit plentiful low floor spaces. Would stay again again.

Great place to stay near UCLA

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This was our first stay at this hotel but definitely not our last. The room was very comfortable. We were even upgraded to a suite without asking. The bed was perfect and there were multiple outlets on both sides. The TV was very nice but packed the basic ability to stream any content. That was our only disappointment in the entire stay. There is free coffee in the lobby each morning rather than a coffee maker in each room. We texted the front desk and a Keurig coffee maker was promptly delivered. The restaurant was great for dinner. The salmon entree was perfectly cooked with a sweet glaze. The fish tacos were also delicious. No need to go anywhere else for dinner! The best thing about the hotel, however, are the employees! Everyone we encountered was very friendly, helpful, and appeared to value us as guests.

Stay Away

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Stay away! They WITHDREW $1700 from my account when the room was already paid. The reservation was paid at the time of arrival and the company charged both of my cards for 3X the stay when incidentals are only $150/day. They had no remedy and no solution. Terrible experience with this place the staff is unorganized and unprofessional

a very quiet part of Los Angeles

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

We recently stayed at this hotel while in los Angeles. The hotel is actually about a half hour drive from downtown, but is located in a beautiful residential area perfect for an evening walk. The rooms are spacious, modern and well appointed with a mini fridge and contemporary furniture. We enjoyed dining at the hotel restaurant Double Take for dinner and breakfast. It is located off of the Lobby but is still quiet and comfortable. The lobby is also a comfortable space with plenty of seating, a fireplace and classic movies playing . There is a nice evening hosted reception poolside with wines and appetizers. The overnight parking fee is pretty steep at $52, although there are secure garages nearby for less There is also a daily amenity fee of $52. This is the perfect location for a visit to LA as long as you don't need to be near downtown or LAX. We enjoyed our stay, and would not hesitate to return

Take a Time Machine back to 2000, or stay at the Palomar

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Good location on Wilshire near UCLA. Probably was a nice hotel 2 decades ago. Not much has changed since. Rooms are worn and dated in an early 2000s kind of way. Staff are somewhat apathetic. Ordered “room service” for dinner. I was charged a $6 delivery fee for me to walk down to the restaurant and pick up the smallest $23 salad I’ve ever seen. Was at hotel for a business meeting which had a catered lunch that was actually excellent. So maybe I ordered poorly for dinner or had a bum meal. Overall, location location location, not much else unless you want a Time Machine back to 2000.
