Convenient to Los Gatos

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed here for a wedding and got a decent block rate . It was super convenient for walking around the picturesque town of Los Gatos. The room was clean, however it didn’t have a lot of charm. The walls must have been thin because we could "very clearly" hear the conversations next door, the footsteps above us and a dog barking within the hotel at one point. (Thank goodness for white noise apps.). I wasn’t thrilled about the sliding door into the bathroom as it didn’t provide much privacy and there was a gap. However it was nice to have the double sink outside the bathroom. There was a small balcony with a small table but only one chair was provided, which was weird. Parking was free which was nice. Staff/housekeeping was responsive as well. We didn’t eat in the restaurant so I cannot comment on that. I don’t think they serve or provide any breakfast normally but there are plenty of nice little places to eat within walking distance. Fridg in the room was convenient was well.

So disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

On the 9/11, my first day, I went to workout. The room was so stuffy, water machine broken. Went to tell staff and NOBODY WAS WORKING. It was at least 5 min but I’m going with 10. I knocked on staff door, hollered for someone to help, but nothing. Then someone sones out of staff room I was knocking on but about 2 min later. Like she didn’t hear me. lol has excuse that other girl is helping someone. My question is why is the lobby COMPLETELY UNSUPERVISED? That’s not safe. The elevator has no security key. NOT SAFE for guests. When I asked for water since the machine was broken, she said maintenance will come. 10 more min and the other girl came in. Yes it’s broken so she told me I could purchase water, when they give us 2 free bottles at check in. I said what would I pay if I can get free water here but it’s broken. Can I get a bottle like at check in. She said house keeping has the bottles. I said can she get that for me. She seemed annoyed. Completely unprofessional. 10 more min and no water. I go to bathroom sink to fill up styrofoam cups. Ridiculous. Then the water bottle comes. Workouts are about 50 min and I spent 30 min trying to get water while working out. What kind of place is this? Definitely gone downhill with the run down rooms, broken amenities and no bathroom amenities. Your staff is lazy. This is the 2nd best hotel in the well established Los Gatos. I’ve lived here for 40 years and this was laughable. I went to The Inn at Saratoga for my last 3 nights. Money you guys missed out on. I was so impressed with the facility and staff. Your staff should have training at The Inn at Saratoga. They were proactive, polite, helpful, kind, and competent. These are characteristics your staff lacks. There was an African American woman working when I checked in on the 10th who was absolutely lovely and helpful. But that’s it. Do better! Your staff is lazy and rude. You are in LG! Unfortunately, I will never stay here again.

No communication. Just on a robe.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed here a couple of years ago and had a very nice time. My wife really liked the robes and mentioned it to me recently. So I thought as a surprise, I would buy her a room from the hotel. I emailed the hotel a few weeks ago and was told that they did not have drugs available. I emailed back asking when they might get them pick up no response. About a week later I emailed the hotel again asking if they had robes available no response. Yesterday I called the hotel talk to the front desk and asked if they had robes available for sale. They said only the general manager could help me with this. They took my name and number, and two days later I still have not gotten a response. I understand I’m not a correct guest at the hotel, but you think they’ll be more responsive to my request

This used to be a good hotel!

We have stayed at this hotel many times as we have family in the area. This time was a real disappointment. They used to welcome you with a glass of wine and a chocolate chip cookie. Now the welcome drink is water. Efficient check in, but 2 of the rooms smelled musty and overly perfumed. We were able to change one room and decided to open up the slider to air out the other room. My room had a charging station on the desk which was not plugged in because there was no outlet under the desk! Why is it there? Neither bedside lamp had charging facilities. I had to charge in the bathroom so no phone by the bed- inconvenient. The rooms in general are in need of renovating - very dated. Just seems a little run down and sad. My sister's room had a deadbolt that did not work. The next morning we went downstairs for the continental breakfast which was a bowl of unappetizing looking apples and oranges. There was coffee! No milk, no half and half, just the cheapest creamer...so no coffee for us. In the past they had pastries, yogurt and decent coffee accompaniments. The onsite restaurant was never open to my knowledge. On the plus side, the location is excellent - close to downtown LG and lots of shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. The staff is also great - Kat, Cherise and the guy who handled check out and made note of all the problems. Also lots of parking and a garage. Rooms were very clean and we did not use housekeeping. When they respond to reviews it is just a "management representative", never a name.

surprisingly good

the location at the end of downtown is great - super walkable but not too noisy. it's definitely an old hotel but they've spiffed it up. ample parking, nice staff and the water pressure in the shower make this a better than average value.
