21c Museum Hotel Louisville

My worst hotel experience ever: I booked with Hotels.com and the hotel didn't respect my booking and transferred me to an inferior hotel nearby. I will never rebook with this hotel chain.

We are on a mission to stay in all the 21c Museum hotels--now we have 2 to g. This one was their first, and as the flagship, it's pretty good. As in all the 21c hotels, the room are spacious and with nice decor. This one , unlike some of the others, has convenient electrical outlets! I found the art galleries here less ambitious than other 21cs. All in all, as expected.

I booked with this hotel through my credit card travel portal as a part of their premier partnership program. When I checked in no one seemed aware of the benefits that were supposed to be included in my stay and I had to talk to the front desk multiple times to receive the credits and vouchers that were supposed to be included as outlined in THEIR handout when I checked in. At checkout I got home and found a double charge for my stay and an additional charge for a weird amount and some change. I contacted the hotel immediately and was told a refund amount that would show in a few days and that the weird amount was for incidentals, I've never heard of incidentals not being an even amount but sure. The refund that posted several days later was not for the amount I was told and also didn't match what I was charged. I then contacted the hotel again and was transferred to their account management voicemail and was never contacted back. I then contacted my credit card company to let them know the issue. They said they would request a response from the hotel and I haven't heard from anyone in a few weeks. I then see ANOTHER charge on my card today. This hotel can't seem to get their billing together and I regret ever giving them my card information. Our stay was pleasant but the aftermath has been a huge headache and I would never recommend a stay with them.

I had heard they had rotating art exhibits and decided to drop in. I thought it was a historic hotel and only later discovered 21c is a chain in various cities. All the art had a minority and LGBT focus but I guess you have to expect that in a woke city post George Floyd. Either way, the quality was excellent. Exhibit larger than I expected, encompassing two floors.

We stayed here to do some bourbon trail exploration. The location ended up being a little far from the activities we were interested in, but close to the Louisville Slugger and Mohammad Ali museums which was good for a rainy day. The room was comfortable. Walls are paper thin and AC is loud, so earplugs recommended. Rooms are very dark, despite having a window. Overall it was clean and comfortable. Staff seemed to lack some attention to detail, but all were pleasant enough. I’m not sure I would bring any younger (minor) travelers here as several pieces of artwork seemed to be overly sexual in the dining area. Food left a lot to be desired at breakfast and dinner. Breakfast staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
