“We’ve tried to evoke the ambiance of a space remembered by a great writer, by a Marguerite Duras or a Noel Coward,” says Eric Verschelden, designer of Villa Maly. Indeed, these guestrooms are memorable: Parquet floors, tropical hardwood furniture and artful décor combine British and French colonial tastes, and the effect is timelessly elegant. Deluxe Rooms occupy the Plumeria villa, which once housed His Royal Highness Khamtan Ounkham, the grandson of a Lao king. It’s an authentic immersion in the history of Luang Prabang, hailed as the best-preserved city in Asia by UNESCO.

Second time staying at Villa Maly and I still love it as much as the first! The pool area is stunning, the breakfast is delicious, and the location is perfect—quiet enough for a good night’s sleep but a very short walk to the night market area. The bar, with its cosy and warm atmosphere, is always a great place to end the day with a cocktail or a glass of wine. Last but not least, the staff is fantastic, smiling and very helpful. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Luang Prabang!

We stayed 3 nights whilst in Luang Prabang and loved our time at Villa Maly. The evening meal we had in the restaurant on our late arrival was superb quality and taste. The room was dark but when you want to sleep it’s perfect. The bathroom is a bit odd but perfectly functionable with a great shower. 5-10 mins walk to the Main Street area and night market. Great bar to relax in after a busy day with a great selection of spirits and liquors from around the world, served by delightful waitress.

Villa Maly is a lovely oasis in Luang Prabang. The location, while not in the historic old part of town, is very convenient. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the river and morning and night markets. The hotel also provides a convenient shuttle to take guests around. The breakfast is terrific and the pool was very comfortable for an afternoon respite. Room was very clean and hotel staff were great.

This is a beautiful hotel with lovely staff. It has a very good pool and large rooms. For us though, the rooms were too dark and needed artificial light all day. Mosquito nets were a plus but no bathroom storage at all so nowhere to put washbags etc. But central and a good breakfast. Worth a stay if you like dark wood etc - atmospheric certainly!
