“We’ve tried to evoke the ambiance of a space remembered by a great writer, by a Marguerite Duras or a Noel Coward,” says Eric Verschelden, designer of Villa Maly. Indeed, these guestrooms are memorable: Parquet floors, tropical hardwood furniture and artful décor combine British and French colonial tastes, and the effect is timelessly elegant. Deluxe Rooms occupy the Plumeria villa, which once housed His Royal Highness Khamtan Ounkham, the grandson of a Lao king. It’s an authentic immersion in the history of Luang Prabang, hailed as the best-preserved city in Asia by UNESCO.

I stayed at Villa Maly for 2 nights (Friday 18 and Saturday 19 July) and loved it. The hotel is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Luang Prabang, beautiful with colonial charm, lush gardens, and a relaxing pool area. My room was very spacious, comfortable, clean, and tastefully decorated. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. Villa Maly is also perfectly located, just a short walk from the night market and the Mekong. I only stayed 2 nights, but left feeling completely recharged. I’d happily come back, and definitely recommend Villa Maly to anyone looking for a peaceful and charming place to stay in Luang Prabang.

This is a totally amazing place to stay. We enjoyed every minute from our arrival. We were offered refreshments and a shoulder massage in the reception area on arrival. We felt like and were treated like royalty! The staff could not have been more attentive, friendly or helpful. Absolutely nothing was a problem. Sitting outside in the covered deck was so peaceful and the food was excellent. Our beds were turned down every night and we were left cookies. The pool area is great to sit around. We could walk into town or the hotel has a courtesy shuttle. The buildings are elegant and well maintained. Our room had a balcony and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting there in peace and privacy. A thoroughly awesome experience and if you can stay there DO IT@

We stayed for four nights and loved this hotel. Such leafy gardens, spacious rooms, amazing pool, lovely food, great drinks - but it was the staff that made our stay extra special. Every single staff member we met was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend. Note, if you do struggle with steps, ask for a ground floor room.

From the moment we walked in, I was blown away by the beautiful decor and the warm atmosphere. The lobby felt like a cozy living room with its stunning wooden floor and accessories. During check in we were offered a shoulder massage. Unfortunately we did not have the time to have a massage during our stay, but I can really say that the therapist's touch was heavenly, and I would highly recommend it. Rooms are also lovely and the hotel is very quiet. Location is perfect, just a couple of minutes’ walk to the night market and center. During daytime we used the hotel bikes. It was a bit of a pity that the bikes weren't available for use in the evening. Breakfast is good with lots of options and fresh fruit juices. Staff is friendly and their English is perfect. All in all a great hotel.
