“We’ve tried to evoke the ambiance of a space remembered by a great writer, by a Marguerite Duras or a Noel Coward,” says Eric Verschelden, designer of Villa Maly. Indeed, these guestrooms are memorable: Parquet floors, tropical hardwood furniture and artful décor combine British and French colonial tastes, and the effect is timelessly elegant. Deluxe Rooms occupy the Plumeria villa, which once housed His Royal Highness Khamtan Ounkham, the grandson of a Lao king. It’s an authentic immersion in the history of Luang Prabang, hailed as the best-preserved city in Asia by UNESCO.

Stayed at this charming hotel as part of trip in South East Asia. The hotel is wonderfully welcoming with genuine attention to detail to retain original features and ambiance of the the original Villa (previously a royal residence)! The staff are wonderful here, they try so hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible, always smiling and very willing to help you with any questions or queries. The breakfast is was cooked to order, great choice and very tasty. We only had one Dinner during our stay but this was again excellent. The location of the hotel is perfect to explore Luang Prabang and surrounding areas but also quiet in the evening. A special mention to Hotel Therapist, the Lao massage is perfect way to relax. The hotel even gives you a free Head and Neck message when you arrive, perfect after a flight! Stay at this hotel, I really recommend it.

Perfect place for a short stay. We stayed for three nights and couldn’t be happier with the service, the facilities and location. It was slightly out of town but everywhere was walkable. The hotel provided a shuttle service to access the town if required. Breakfast was good - basic but adequate. Rooms well serviced and shower excellent. Pool side was lovely with access to the bar. Can’t fault it. Highly recommend.

We were with them for only three nights and wish it had been longer! Very tranquil Convenient to book trips from here. Recommend luxury sunset cruise - 20 US dollars each - included drink, mini meal & entertainment - musicians & traditional folk law dancers - excellent. Comfortable room and bed with everything necessary. Wonderful staff - all without exception going out of their way to help. Super restaurant with good food. No need to book for evening table. Everyone greeting & smiling. Convenient for everything One of the best places we've ever stayed.

Second time staying at Villa Maly and I still love it as much as the first! The pool area is stunning, the breakfast is delicious, and the location is perfect—quiet enough for a good night’s sleep but a very short walk to the night market area. The bar, with its cosy and warm atmosphere, is always a great place to end the day with a cocktail or a glass of wine. Last but not least, the staff is fantastic, smiling and very helpful. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Luang Prabang!

We stayed 3 nights whilst in Luang Prabang and loved our time at Villa Maly. The evening meal we had in the restaurant on our late arrival was superb quality and taste. The room was dark but when you want to sleep it’s perfect. The bathroom is a bit odd but perfectly functionable with a great shower. 5-10 mins walk to the Main Street area and night market. Great bar to relax in after a busy day with a great selection of spirits and liquors from around the world, served by delightful waitress.
