Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola

A truly beautiful hotel in Lugano with an exceptional setting and highly professional, attentive staff. I can honestly only say positive things about this place. Everything is beautifully maintained and you immediately notice the attention to detail. The service is excellent – quick, professional and attentive without ever being intrusive, exactly the way good service should be. The gardens are absolutely wonderful, and enjoying the incredible views surrounded by beautiful palm trees makes you feel like you are in a little paradise. The whole atmosphere is peaceful, elegant and extremely comfortable. This hotel is also very special to us personally, as we spent our honeymoon here and have wonderful memories from that time. The food is another reason we keep coming back. The restaurant is excellent and something I can definitely recommend. Whenever we visit Lugano, we try to stop here – even when we are not staying overnight, we love coming back for a meal, a drink and simply to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It is one of those places where you immediately feel comfortable and can truly relax. Highly recommended. We always enjoy coming back and certainly will again!

My sister and I stayed at the hotel at the end of July 2026 as part of the start of a one month trip. The hotel is amazing. It stands on a piece of land of dozens of dunams with gardens, tennis courts, seating areas for relaxation and a spectacular view of Lake Lugano. The hotel is the type of hotel that justifies the title Grand Hotel given to such hotels in the past and is hard to find today. The hotel staff was courteous, eager to help, efficient and helped with our every wish or request. The hotel has an indoor and heated swimming pool in the hotel building and a private beach area - Lido - on the lake shore across the road surrounding the lake, which by entering a personal code and the hotel card allows access to it and a dreamy swim in the lake. Of course, showers and any other needs you have are also on this side of the hotel to allow you to return in an orderly manner to the hotel across the road. The room itself was characterized by elegance and furniture that matched the atmosphere. The breakfast was wonderful and nutritious. The view from the room balcony was spectacular and highlighted the beauty of Lake Lugano. The hotel provides parking, but it is very reasonably priced. Looking forward to my next visit to the hotel.

I have nothing but amazing memories of your Magnificent property. This was the last stop on my birthday trip and boy did you deliver. Perfect room Lake view. Great AC!!! The property is just absolutely gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious and so was dinner! Monte bre funicular right out back the door and bus stop out the front of property by lake. You can tell the love and care put into this hotel. Service is impeccable.

Let me just say that this hotel is amazing, the level of service is top tier from the front desk to the bartenders. This hotel is the definition of luxury and we have enjoyed our stay so much.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, artfully designed both inside and out - grounds are equally beautiful to the interior with lush greenery, gorgeous flowers and a pool set into the landscape. Gracious, friendly, personalized service and an amazing location - an easy 10- 15 minute walk outside of the center of town. Went for a business trip with little expectation and was just thrilled by the experience.
