InterContinental Lyon - Hotel Dieu

Had a wonderful 3 night stay, the hotel is conveniently located near the shopping district and Bellecour metro station. Old town is a 15 min walk or one stop on the metro. Everything was high quality, rooms were well equipped, large bathroom and view of the river. We were upgraded to a loft suite which gave us more space, which was appreciated. The dome bar is a must visit and there are several restaurants and bars in the Grand Dieu building. It can get noisy from street traffic and one night after the FIFA game, when France won the quarterfinals there was a traffic jam outside, with people celebrating until 2:00 am! Tip, to avoid the sun and heat, cut through the courtyards in the shade to get to the shopping district. Highly recommended!

What a great hotel. Very comfortable rooms, excellent and extremely friendly personnel, nice historic building - with many interesting Restaurants and shops in the connected courtyard. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprise by this hotel as I did not expect a hotel of this level.

Best IHG hotel I've stayed in - really sympathetic renovation, beautiful building, lovely Dome Bar and excellent room size/quality/cleanliness. My main suggestion for improvement would be to have a proper gym, as the current one is tiny and lacking equipment, so really just an afterthought.

Nice hotel but badly managed and badly organized. There were at least 15 people working at the breakfast buffet in complete confusion and only One guy for the valet parking. We had tò wait 20 minutes to get our car. Honestly i have tò add that the manager did not charge the parking fee as compensation, but he admitted they were encountering issues with the staff. The minibar was half empty and took 30 minutes tò have some One tò come tò the room. At those prices the service must be perfect.

Beautiful hotel. Well appointed rooms still in great condition. Very friendly service but if you request anything out of turn, you'll be in for a long wait. When we arrived, the room was decked out with multiple bottles of complimentary sparkling and still water and another rather tasty soft drink. All were in glass bottles with crown tops. Exactly how I like my water but crown tops require bottle openers and alas there wasn't one to be found in my room. 2 calls to reception plus 45 mins was required to get one sent up. At Epona their only restaurant used both for breakfast and all day dining, a request for butter took many requests and a very very long wait. When it finally arrived the waitress joked that she had to find a cow, milk it and churn the milk to get us the butter. What!? As I said, as long as you don't have any "special" requests like asking for butter at dinner or a bottle opener, all will be fine. As mentioned the willingness to be helpful is certainly there but the results need more polishing up. We took 2 rooms. One was a duplex suite. Be aware that the entrance to the duplex suite is on the upper floor where the living area is situated. The bedroom is one floor down connected by a rather steep stair case. If you're mobility impaired in any way, don't take the duplex. Carrying anything down those stairs, particularly your suitcase can be fraught. Regardless, it was a lovely suite layout with beautiful views of the river from the living room but its probably more suited to younger guests. The small gripes aside, overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.
