The mythical lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu lay hidden for centuries high in the lush forests of the Peruvian Andes. Today it has been declared one of the World's 7 Wonders, and now visitors have a decidedly civilized option for intrepid exploration to this stunning archeological wonder and UNESCO Natural, Cultural and Worldwide Heritage of Humanity. The Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel opened in 2007 with Incan grandeur and incomparable comfort, welcoming guests into a landscape that is as mysterious as it is filled with the echoes of ancient cultures. Beyond privileged access to one of the world's most famous and hard to reach ruins, the Sumaq Hotel offers exquisite comfort, warm service, delectable Peruvian cuisine and a spa that brings together relaxation treatments from around the world - all to help add your story to this ancient city of myths.

From the pre-arrival organisation of tours to the collection of bags from the station at the end, this was hands down the best organised and most helpful hotel experience I have ever had and everything in between was just as perfect. Pre-arrival we were able to organise our guide tickets and bus travel up to MP and on the day the hotel staff made sure we were in the right queue at the right time ahead of the guide joining us. He was brilliant and deserves his own review! The room was a river view with balcony and was lovely, comfortable and spacious. Dinner was included, another highlight. Food was excellent and the staff obviously and justifiably proud of the local cuisine which they would talk through when served. Breakfast was excellent, and whilst we were there as a couple, the hotel had a brilliant kids breakfast station which I’m sure would delight younger guests. A fantastic stay and I would whole heartedly recommend it. Never felt so welcome or so looked after. We had booked another hotel, the now insanely overpriced one at the entrance to MP but they cancelled on us (closed apparently but seemed open when we were there) and honestly I’m grateful, saved a fortune and doubtless we had a better experience. Great job from the staff at Sumaq, wonderful stay to match a once in a lifetime experience.

What a great experience! From the reception with cocktails, they offered the kids a cooking class, the rooms are big and comfortable, clean and have all amenities needed. What really made our stay a great one was the staff, from the host, bellboy, chef to waiters. All of them were very attentive and helpful. The place and food are top of the class, if you plan on going to Machu Picchu stay here! 100% recommended.

Faustino was amazing! Excellent service and the food was delicious! We had the trout ceviche which was tasty and the desserts were out of this world. My daughter said the pineapple sorbet was the best she ever had and the chocolate volcano fondant rocked!

Staying at the Sumaq Hotel I had a fantastic massage at the spa by Eva. After two intense days visiting Machu Pichu I needed this relaxing massage! You are provided a locker, slippers, robe, tea....anything you need.
