Milagros our waitress is nothing but impressive at their restaurant. She made us feel at home and served more than expected quality food. Rooms are fantastic This is a top rated place to go if visiting Macchu Picchu

The Sumaq Hotel markets itself as a high end luxury five star experience. At a high price point, I had reasonably high expectations. Once my family and I stepped in, we were greeted with hot towels and mocktails. That was where the five star experience ended. Once we entered the room, we were disappointed. There were small gnats in the room, and the “garden” view that we booked was a wall with some plants embedded into it. There did not appear to be any grandiose beautiful garden which we expected our room to look into. The room was pretty old, and there was no temperature control system which we could adjust for our comfort. It was a radiator you had to twist, which would release warm air. As part of our package, we had breakfast and dinner included. When we went to dinner we had a wonderful waiter George. He was very amicable and provided great and fast service. The food on the other hand was horrible. So horrible, that when we had lunch included in our Macchu Picchu tour package and saw it was the same menu as dinner, we declined. We preferred going elsewhere and having to pay over eating that meal for free. The highlight of our experience was the friendly waitstaff and the Macchu Picchu tour guide. Ricardo and Sergio were wonderful, and I would definitely recommend them for a tour. Sergio was a shaman, and it was a magical experience for him to join us. Overall, unimpressed by the hotel. It was a 5 star price for 3-4 star quality. If I were to visit again, I would stay elsewhere at a more reasonable price in the Aguas Calientes town.

Mary gave one of the best massages I have ever had. She worked nonstop and did a deep tissue massage. I recommend her highly!!!

Dinner at the hotel restaurant was superb, all of the dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. Our waiter Jairo was very attentive and had a very good sense of humour we thoroughly enjoyed being served by him.
