Saccharum Resort and Spa

Nice hotel , booked for honeymoon through Jet2 , hoping for the upgrade as advertised if available , we did not receive this , the hotel was not at full capacity, infact very quiet. We booked spe ocean view room ,so given the spe amenities etc that we paid for which was nice , didn't feel special as honeymoon should . The check in did not want to see our marriage certificate om arrival as we were told to bring this via jet2. I was constantly referred to with my maiden name , I had to travel in that name as no time to change passport and was advised to do so by jet2 , however the hotel were aware we were recently married. We had a relaxing time , the staff were polite and professional. We ate twice in the hotel , however again not personal service , served by 5 different members of staff at each sitting from ordering to finishing meal , 10% gratuity put on bill , we had this taken off as prefer to give our gratuities on merit of personal good service , so decided to eat at the marina in the evening. Breakfast was good with great choices and pleasant staff. Club room , we used occasionally, the ladies there are fabulous, friendly and professional. We visit Maderia twice yearly , will probably stick to our Porto Bay hotels in Funchal.

Some of the reviews really don’t do this hotel justice, it was welcoming from the moment of checking in, the staff are a real asset, super friendly.The premium experience is worth the extra money, the hotel it self is spotlessly clean & maintained to a high standard, really not much to complain about, we had a great 10 days here.

Do Not Believe Any Negative Reviews - The Saccharum Resort and Spa Is Exceptional. Sometimes you have to question why people write negative reviews, especially when their comments are untrue. Yes you have to pay to use some of the facilities at this hotel, but this is clearly stated before booking, so there are no surprises. The Saccharum Resort and Spa is an exceptional hotel with staff and service to match. My family and I have just returned home following a wonderful Christmas stay at this fabulous hotel. I have read the negative reviews regarding this hotel, and I can honestly say that was not the experience we received or saw. The staff went out of their way to accommodate guests, nothing was ever an issue. Bruno Teles (Hotel Manager) was visible throughout the Christmas period, which showed great leadership to the staff and guests. We shared a conversation on Christmas Eve, during which I knew why the Saccharum has such high standards. This hotel is impeccably clean, has amazing food, and fantastic views. Special thanks to Rafaela (Reception) who was extremely professional, helpful and explained everything we needed to know about the hotel. Thank you to Maria and Elson at Engenho Restaurante for always greeting guests with a smile and making everyone feel truly welcome. The Saccharum Resort and Spa is a great hotel to spend a luxury, relaxing, calm and refreshing holiday. Thank you for a lovely Christmas.

Our stay was wonderful and relaxed. We were pampered and looked after with everything we could need. Everyone of the staff so friendly and professional Fantastic room with ocean views clean and fresh.
