Felt At Home

Staying at Palacio del Retiro was an exquisite treat. From the moment Elba checked us in at the front desk, we felt at home. Juan Carlos was always at the ready to assist us with bags or cabs when we needed them. Marimar and Rosalba gave us wonderful service every morning during breakfast. Jimena helped us find restaurants and places to go. And Yarelys gave us great service in the lounge when we returned in the evening. The experience and the service was second to none. I highly recommend this place.

Hotel staff are wonderful!

I can’t say enough about the wonderful people – Irene Lara, Juan Carlo, Juan Luis, Rosalva (did not capture last name) and a few more I didn’t get their names. It was our 20th anniversary and our very first time in Spain – which given the level of service and hospitality we received was off to a great start in Madrid. The room was spacious, beautiful and smelled clean (the way a room smells when I enter matters to me especially in older hotels which may smell musky and old upon entering a room). They provided champagne and lots to nibble on as a special surprise for us. Breakfast was plentiful and great. Location is right next to the park – so if you want to go for a run, it’s a perfect location, and a hop skip and away from the main touristy areas so close enough for a quick jaunt but far enough away from all the hubbub. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

We arrived from the airport at 7 am and Guillermo welcomed us with open arms. He offered us some coffee before anything was open. He shared a map of the city with some places to visit. He also offered to store our luggage until our room was ready. The rest of the Feont Desk staff were very helpful and attentive but a special shout-out to David the bellman who was Super and always went out of his way to assist us in any way possible . The hotel, service and all of its amenities are top notch. The breakfast buffet was always fresh, tasty and constantly refilled and hot meals were made to order as part of the buffet.

Excellent location, lovely public rooms and friendly staff but some rooms need refurbishing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 months ago

Friendly welcome and efficient check in. Hotel’s lobby and bar area make good first impression Location perfect for visiting the big 3 galleries and convenient for eating out in the Salamanca district. Staff uniformly friendly, helpful and professional. Room less impressive, which prevented an “excellent” rating. Dull, cheap furniture and bathroom in need of refurb: seals on shower tray needed replacing and sink plug malfunctioning. Very good breakfast in charming dining room.
