Just finished a wonderful stay at the Mandarin Oriental Madrid — excellent service, amazing staff, and a truly beautiful hotel in the heart of Madrid. Every detail was taken care of with care and professionalism. A special thanks to the General Manager, Mr. Robert, for his warm welcome and hospitality. Can’t wait to return!

FABULOUS Sunday Lunch!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

One of the most fabulous Sunday lunches I've ever had. This place cannot be missed. I had to make my portions small so that I could enjoy as much of the variety possible. The beef carpaccio and the lamb chops were among the best I've had. Dessert station was abundant and their opera cake hit the spot.

Superb!

This classic Madrid hotel has been recently renovated and is in pristine condition. The decor in the rooms, lobby and restaurants feels completely up to date while maintaining its traditional elegance. The service was impeccable, and the food was consistently wonderful in all of the venues. The pool, spa and gym are in the basement, but they are staffed with helpful attendants and are so beautifully designed that they are thoroughly enjoyable. The property is located in a lovely neighborhood convenient to all of the best things Madrid has to offer. We were very happy that we chose this hotel for our holiday instead of the Four Seasons, which is located in a much more touristy area that felt similar to Times Square. We reserved a Park Suite and were upgraded to a Prado Suite with powder room on the fifth floor, where the rooms have balconies. Highly recommended! The only small negative during our stay was difficulty getting taxis several times due to street closures in front of the hotel. Thank you, MO, for a wonderful stay. We look forward to returning.

Abysmal customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

To provide a balance, I will start with the positives. Great location; elegant bar; lovely area for tea (though nowhere near the experience at the Lanesborough). We checked in and they escorted us with flourish to a small, interior view (through tiny windows) room with tiny closets, a small, awkward bathroom, and no aesthetic details. Our amazing travel advisor (Ashleigh S. with Virtuouso explained to the manager that we had booked a Mandarin room with a city view and seating area. Eventually, they moved us (after wasting half the day) and told us that our “profile” didn’t mention the view. We had to explain to him that our written hotel confirmation stated sitting area, Mandarin room, city view. He skirted the issue and took no responsibility for the mistake. I am perfectly comfortable with the two thousand euro/night cost but not for this experience! When asked for a clothes steamer, they sent a cheap, drugstore steamer that leaked badly and had mold on it. The gym is tiny, underground and depressing. I have stayed at Mandarin properties in San Francisco (no longer there), Prague, Las Vegas (no longer there) and now, Madrid. I will never book a Mandarin hotel after the abysmal service from the manager at this property.

average hotel with huge ambitions

If you brave enough to renta a standard room 1200 euro/day — you get unstable service with loud bass music from the bar of the hotel, that you can “enjoy” trough the night. It’s the worst example of famous brand, i have had It seems, that doormen, housekeeper or bar administration are working without any regulations, and everybody does they work as they complete it
