Reviews for ME Madrid Reina Victoria

Heart of Madrid

This is a wonderful hotel. Great location close to everything. The staff are gracious and spend time to tell you about the hotel and offer any assistance with what you need. The room has a generous mini bar, , flat screen Bose like sound system that also carries into the bathroom if you don't want to miss anything, gorgeous marble bathroom with rain shower head and spa like 8 headed shower sprays, multidimensional mirror and a magnifying mirror. There is a roof top bar for evening tapas and drinks, and restaurant on the first floor for breakfast option. I read some of the other reviews and felt they were unreasonable. First, if you are traveling to Europe, expect smaller rooms. We have been to nearly every country in Europe. This is a luxury hotel. If you want bigger, super luxurious hotels plan on spending more than 800 euro a night. But for 200-500 euro a night four star hotel, this hotel has a lot to offer. Hospitality in Europe is an art and they are very proud to spend as much time with you that you need. Even if that means people behind them have to wait. But I assure you when your turn comes up they will be just as gracious to you with all of your needs addressed. We could use more of that in the world. Not less.

Room size

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

American Express Platinum travel booked a room for 2 at the last minute so I wasn’t able to see the rooms. I was shocked at the small size - 14’x14’ for two of us. Twin bed pushed together so there was only about 2’around the beds. No place to put luggage except on the bed to unpack and then store the luggage in the closet. The only good thing was a beautiful rooftop bar. Upgrade is usually available with AmEx but we were told it was fully booked and we were so jet lagged we chose not to argue about the room

Something bad is happening to this hotel.

This has been our 5th or 6th stay at this hotel during the past couple of years. And unfortunately I am no longer certain this continues to be our go to place in the city. And the worst thing is it is mainly the soft product that was letting us down. Room cleaning was not as good as we grew to expect from ME Madrid. All the lifts had problems. Every day another one would stop working. The breakfast room no longer functions as a restaurant in the evening and went through various changes both in decor and in service and food. We found it not as good as in the past. Selection and presentation has taken a turn to the worst. Coffee was also bad. There are extensive works carried out in the Santa Ana and San Miguel sq on both sides of the hotel. Apparently for sometime now. No one informed us on those in advance resulting in it being unable to take a siesta or late morning sleep due to constant construction noise. Isolation of the windows remains a joke (as was always the case) but with the constant works is now a major concern. I’m afraid that until these issues are not resolved - we would be less likely to return here which we feel is really a shame. It used to be a great place to stay. Wake up ME Madrid or you risk loosing your clients.

Disappointed by the service, not the branding.

I stayed at ME Madrid Reina Victoria expecting a refined and premium experience — especially for the price and reputation. Sadly, the reality did not match the expectations. Right upon entering the room, I noticed a shower leak, which I reported. A technician came, but the issue was only partially resolved. The bathroom door wouldn’t close, which caused discomfort throughout the stay. The floor was visibly scratched and damaged, which gives a poor impression of maintenance. Even more surprising, water bottles weren’t replaced, and when I called reception, I was told I wasn’t entitled to more after the first day. At checkout, my €100 cash deposit was not returned to me — instead, it was deducted from my bill without informing me or getting my approval. I filed a formal complaint via their official channels, and while I received a polite response, there was no offer of resolution or compensation. A staff member was kind enough to apologize in person, but overall, the lack of follow-up made the whole experience disappointing. This is not the standard one should expect from a hotel in this category.

Over Priced & A Little Dated

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I expected a higher quality finish to the room due to the high price I have stayed in many 5* hotels that had a better quality finish - the room was spotless clean and the housekeeping was perfect - but the furniture a little dated and badly painted to make it look better than it was . The shower work fine- but when using the body jets it was useless. The bed was very comfortable but yet I couldn’t sleep due to the noise in the street that went on until after 2am
