This hotel is particularly convenient if you are having an overnight stay before going back to the airport for a flight as it is easily accessible on the metro from the airport. There is a sister hotel around the corner from here, the NH Zurbano. The latter is more modern and more geared up to the business traveller. The Abascal is more traditional and has a slightly tired feel to it. The room we stayed in was quite small (difficult to open a large suitcase in. We were starting a longhaul holiday). The bed was comfortable. There weren't sufficient customer accessible sockets to charge all our devices. The voice (Spanish and English) accessbile Alexa was a helpful touch. The wifi had a sufficiently good signal. The breakfast buffet was a standard, hotel buffet offering. It was certainly good and the service was both friendly and efficient.

I stayed at NH Collection Madrid Abascal with my family and was robbed in the hotel restaurant during breakfast, right before my flight. The restaurant was nearly empty at that time, and it seemed the staff knew we were checking out that morning. My handbag with my wallet and iPhone disappeared in just a few minutes. Although I immediately asked for help, the hotel only called the police (who never arrived) and later told me they couldn’t open their own cameras, saying it was a “public area.” Since then, the hotel has shifted all responsibility to the police and has not taken any real initiative to review the footage or help find the thief. It’s very disappointing that such an incident could happen inside the hotel’s breakfast area, especially when guests must show their room number to enter. I hope the management takes real action to protect guests in the future.

The room was very dated the shower full of stains . One big brown reddish stain , wood on door frames chipped in several places, blackout curtains not big enough and when people used bathroom next door you could hear everything. Awful value for money. A shame as I have stayed at 3 other NH properties all nice . Only good thing is the super friendly staff at check in and breakfast.

Lovely hotel. Excellent stafff who are very welcoming. Very well situated for metro service to all areas of Madrid including the airport. A hotel that understands the importance of the basics- a high quality bed, cleanliness and easy check in and check out. Gracias.
