Our Go To Hotel in Madrid-Chamberi Neighborhood!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 hours ago

I stayed at NH Madrid Abascal twice in August—first on my own, and then again two weeks later with my husband and our small pug, while traveling between Madrid and Barcelona. I loved it both times! The Chamberí neighborhood is one of my favorite things about this hotel. It feels safe, clean, and local, with lots of great restaurants within walking distance. I also had a rental car and found the underground parking extremely convenient and secure (€27/night). I loved being able to pull up front, unload our luggage, and then park without the hassle of navigating a busy, touristy area. The staff—from the front desk to room service—were all wonderful: friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. They even recommended a great nearby nail salon. The property itself is a bit tired and dated, but it was exceptionally clean, and the spacious rooms more than made up for it. My room had plenty of bottled water, candy, a personalized welcome note, and robes and slippers. They were also incredibly dog-friendly. Our pug was welcomed with a large dog bed plus food and water bowls, which was such a thoughtful touch. If you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful hotel that’s still close to central Madrid, I highly recommend NH Madrid Abascal. Spacious rooms, easy parking, a great neighborhood, wonderful staff, and genuinely dog-friendly. I would absolutely stay here again!

Relaxing, enjoyable stay at a wonderful hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We have recently returned from a 6 day stay at this wonderful hotel. Our room was a great size, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. We also had the bonus of having a balcony. There was a large choice available for breakfast, with both hot and cold selections Location is ideal with metro stations both about a 5 minute walk in either direction on leaving the hotel. The bar area was very pleasant with a really nice outdoor courtyard to sit and relax. I must say a special thank you to Bogdan, who kept us supplied with drinks at the bar, it was a pleasure chatting to him each evening. If we ever return to Madrid, we will without doubt stay at this hotel again. Thank you for a lovely stay, highly recommended.

The sound of noise in a busy city

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The NH Collection Madrid Abascal. It sits on quite a busy avenue in the Chamberí district, encased in that familiar, clinical wrapper of the NH brand. You know the drill: it’s smart, it’s spotlessly clean, and it looks precisely like every other upscale business hotel built since the turn of the century. But an air-conditioning unit that sounds loud, no other word, and a minibar fridge that rattles with the furious intensity of a broken lawnmower. "Ah," you think, "I’ll just get a room on the top floor to escape the endless roar of Madrid's traffic." Wrong. Even from the highest ceiling, the noise off the main road penetrates your skull with absolute, relentless precision—so if you don't request a room at the back, God help your sleep. Then comes the morning, and they ask for twenty-five Euros for the breakfast buffet. Twenty. Five. Euros. For some eggs and cereal! Unless you book it at check-in for twenty, which I still consider a steal. My recommendation, walk a few streets over to the NH Zurbano instead. It’s vastly quieter, just as clean, and won't leave you needing a lie-down from the noise.

The best bed in our summer trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The hotel was great, set in a beautiful old building that has been tastefully restored. The breakfast buffet was very good, and the staff were absolutely wonderful throughout our stay. A special mention has to go to the bed, which was exceptionally comfortable. During our 12-day trip, we stayed in six different hotels and locations, and this was by far the most comfortable bed of the entire trip. We slept incredibly well! A lovely hotel that we would happily recommend and stay at again.
