Reviews for Only You Hotel Atocha

Very nice hotel!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We spent one night at this really lovely hotel prior to returning home. It is located within walking distance from the train station which is very convenient. The hotel has a very interesting and special design throughout. The staff at reception was so kind in helping us get taxis when needed - most appreciated since there is local construction making it difficult. Don’t be deterred by this. I was glad to have known from a prior reviewer. The taxi driver meets you right in the lobby. The restaurant and lobby bar staff were so helpful and friendly making our experience delightful. The hotel room was immaculate. Very nice breakfast buffet as well. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Location and modern.

Location is right across from Atocha train station, easy walk to all the art museums and major park and restaurants. Our last night hotel in Madrid with its location to the train. Large and modern. Many amenities we didn’t use. Comfortable rooms and quiet. No included breakfast buffet.

Solid hotel in a dense but convenient area

Overall we had a very good experience at the Only YOU hotel and would recommend it, though with a caveat and quibble or two. We chose this hotel in part because it is literally next door to the train station. We were arriving by train from Barcelona and making a daytrip by train to Toledo, so we thought this would be a great location. For the most part it is a good spot, although not exactly beautiful given all the traffic and transportation uses in the area. I should also note that when we were there in October 2025 there was what looks like major roadway project immediately in front of the hotel, so there is a construction fence basically along the entire front of the hotel. So, it's not exactly a quaint, serene oasis, but it does its best given some of the constraints and challenges in the area. One other note on location: It's very close to all three of the major museums. I walked to the Reina Sofia in less than five minutes, and to the Prado in 5-7 minutes. If your primary purpose in the city is the art museums it's a good choice. The ground floor is a bustling place, which is mostly good, although there can be a tiny bit of congestion at the reception area and a fair amount of noise from the bar area. Our room was clean, spacious and for the most part quiet. I was a little disappointed we had asked for a balcony (I think a few rooms in our category have them and we reserved many months in advance), and didn't get one, but overall we liked the room. I have to give this hotel five stars because it's exactly what it's billed as, and it satisfied some of my critical tests like cleanliness and a quiet room. It's not a five-star ultra-luxury hotel and the location within a very dense transportation corridor means it's not a quaint, charming inn, but I can't fault the hotel for that since it doesn't try to be any of those things. Overall, it's a very solid hotel and I would recommend it to visitors to Madrid.

Chic on the Outside, Chaos on the Inside

I booked this hotel based on its stylish photos—but the reality was a nightmare. The room was dirty from the start. Hair stuck to the door rail, footprints on the bathroom floor—it was clear no one had cleaned properly. I had to request basic amenities like towels, bathrobes, and toothpaste every day, and housekeeping only gave us one of each. Is this a new “minimalist” trend? To their credit, the front desk staff were kind and tried to help. They even left a handwritten apology and chocolate, which was thoughtful. But the issues continued—missing items, uncleaned areas, and no follow-through. The letter told me to contact the guest experience assistant, Elena, for support. I tried. She was off duty. I tried again during her working hours—still no luck. Why offer help that doesn’t exist? The bathroom floor didn’t drain properly, leaving water everywhere after a shower. It was dangerously slippery. And the cherry on top? A €3 charge for a cutlery set from the hotel restaurant. Really? Also, the hotel is located in the middle of a construction site. It’s noisy and hard to walk around, and this was never mentioned during booking. Overall, the front desk team tried their best, but the housekeeping and management fell short. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless major improvements are made.
