Hotel overrated. No good for Globalist Hyatt members no perks. I requested late checkout and they say NO only to 12:00 then when I went back in a rush before noon keys were already deactivated and need it to go to frontdesk in the tiny elevator. No good customer service. Perhaps 2 star hotel

This was my first visit to Madrid, Spain and thus, my first stay at The Principal Madrid. The property had been recommended through my American Express Platinum Travel Service. The entire staff was not only courteous, proficient, and professional...they went beyond measure to ensure that my stay was a world class experience. Their Guest Experience Manager, Rafael, in particular, was the epitome of being both well-informed and generous. He had a knowledgeable and appropriate answer for every question I had, served as a pseudo tour guide, and was tremendously gracious with his time and attention to detail. If I was opening my own hotel and was looking to hire a General Manager for the property, Rafael would be my "Number 1 Draft Choice!" I look forward to next trip to Madrid. There's no question as to where I will be staying...

Staff were fantastic, very helpful, breakfast was epic, lovely rooms, great location. We also ate at the restaurant one evening and that was fabulous too. Perfect really!

Love love love this place. It's a historic building with a compact footpring, not a big sprawling corporate resort. And that's what's so charming about it. I'm a travel writer and stayed here recently for business and wished I could have moved in for the week. I love the dark colors, moody vibe, plush fabrics, and general relaxing vibe of the space. Staff are terrific and the food and cocktails are great, plus those terraces!
