Fantastic Hotel in an excellent location
We loved this hotel. It’s in the heart of old Madrid near El Ritiro Park. Excellent location to get to all the neighborhoods you might want to visit. The hotel itself is well appointed with a fantastic staff. The beds were comfortable and made for a great nights sleep after a long day of walking. One thing to note is that the showers are tubs so be aware of this fact. There’s a shower head but it’s awkward to get into and out of.

An excellent choice when staying in Madrid
The hotel experience was top notch. The rooms are spacious, restaurant was delicious with balcony overlooking the Grand Via, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. My wife and I traveled to Madrid for my 50th birthday and overall it was an excellent experience. Highly recommended. Shout out to Rafael.

The best in Madrid
I have been staying at the Principal several times a year since it opened. The staff does an incredible job here. If you like smaller, quieter, elegant hotels with all the modern touches AND great service, you will love the Principal.

Lovely hotel. Helpful staff
The Principal is a lovely hotel in the heart of Madrid. The location was perfect for us being a walk from basically everywhere. The staff were super helpful. The terrace was a good place to hang after a day out. (Unfortunately the rooftop was not open and was being renovated) The beef croquettes were to die for. The area behind the hotel is Chueca and had good bars and breakfast places when you want to get out of the busyness of Sol and La Latina but don’t want to dine in.

Excellent hotel in the center of Madrid
The Principal Madrid was the perfect base for my trip. The location on Gran Vía couldn’t be better, and it’s situated right in the center, so you can access he Plaza Mayor and The Palace to the west and the Retiro Park and Museums to the east. The rooms were comfortable and beautifully designed, and the rooftop terrace quickly became my favorite spot to take in the city views and have a cocktail. What really stood out was the service. Rafael was especially wonderful - very friendly and attentive. The elevators are on the smaller side and some rooms have better views than others, but overall my stay was fantastic and I’d happily return.
