Wonderful hotel in the best area of Madrid, next to the main shops and restaurants. The team is kind and friendly with impeccable facilities and structure. The room is luxurious and comfortable. The breakfast is incredible and very well served. The best option in Madrid.

Room for Improvement

My husband and I spent four nights at the Rosewood Villa Magna over the Christmas holidays. It was okay, but not great. Our suite seemed due for an update, and the concierge service fell short of expectations. On the positive side, the location was excellent.

Great Location, but disappointing for a Rosewood

The best thing about the Rosewood in Madrid is undoubtedly the location, right in the heart of the Salamanca neighborhood, one of the most elegant and walkable areas in the city. It’s perfect for exploring boutiques, cafes, and charming streets on foot. Unfortunately, that’s where the highlights end. The hotel lacks a real lobby, it’s essentially part of a collection of restaurants and lounges, which creates a bit of confusion and doesn’t give the space much of a hotel identity. The bar is excellent and clearly popular with locals, but beyond that, there aren’t many common areas or amenities. No pool, no spa atmosphere, and overall, it felt more like a small boutique hotel than a full-service luxury property. Our room was tiny, especially compared to other top-tier hotels in the city, though it was tastefully decorated and well maintained. Still, the overall feel of the hotel was tight, there was nothing about the design or experience that reminded us we were in Madrid. It felt very residential, which I think was definitely the intention. Service was fine, but very average, not what we’d expect from a Rosewood. Nothing bad happened, but nothing stood out either. There was a general lack of attention to detail or warmth that you typically associate with five-star service. We also stayed at the Four Seasons Madrid during this trip, and it was miles ahead in every way, comfort, amenities, atmosphere, and especially service. Sadly, this has been our least favorite Rosewood stay to date.

A truly remarkable hotel – special in many ways.

This was our second visit to the property and it keeps on creating new special experiences. Every Rosewood hotel works so hard to create a special local experience wishing to position their properties as distinct by creating a personal attachment to the location and history whilst owning flagship properties. Whilst in Madrid there are “palace” hotels which are grand and opulent, the Rosewood blends quality and luxury whilst making you feel instantly at home. There are gardens, courtyards, patios, several restaurants and a superb spa. The rooms are light and airy and in immaculate condition. They blend light, warm colours and present a local experience with many Madrid-themed artefacts and books. Team Every member of the team was polite and courteous and went out of their way to be helpful. We had many dealings with the Concierge and they were always polite, professional and capable. The reception team were warm and welcoming and addressed any issues swiftly and efficiently. A tiny error occurred, they apologised profusely and rectified the matter swiftly. Cuisine Breakfast is served as a combination of buffet and à la carte across three separate rooms with a superb array of food to choose from. The Pastry Chef should be commended for the high-quality breads, patisseries. We also had lunch in the lounge and had a lovely experience. On two separate occasions we enjoyed the patisseries of the hotel and were greatly impressed by the quality and superb flavours. A commendation to the team. Spa The spa is located on the lower ground floor, and the team were warm and welcoming and each of the rooms well-appointed and the team very professional. The hotel itself is well located in the Salamanca area, close to the shops and despite its prime location, has a homely feel which makes you feel relaxed compared to the palace-style hotels. Our thanks to the management and all of the team, it was a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning.

Exceptional Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

We had an exceptional stay even though the weather was super cold and raining nonstop. The hotel is wonderful and the staff is beyond! Because of the bad weather we spent a lot of time in the hotel. The spa (jacuzzi, steam rooms) are a must; the breakfast was fantastic and the concierge service was very good. The bar area and restaurants are very happening and good. The hotel is walking distance to nice shops and restaurants. We were celebrating a birthday and the hotel staff made it special.
