Absolutely great experience. Best rooftop pool you can get in Madrid, beautiful building, extremely clean. We loved all the food and drink options and staff was very helpful.

Great location, within walking distance of most of Madrid’s major attractions. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and equipped with excellent air conditioning. The sound insulation is also excellent. Although the hotel’s central location means the surrounding streets can remain lively late into the night, very little of the outside noise is noticeable from inside the room. On one night during my stay, I could occasionally hear some low-frequency bass from a nearby music venue, but it was not bothersome to me. Light sleepers, however, may want to request a room that does not face the street for an even quieter stay.

My wife and I recently stayed at Thompson Madrid during our first trip to Madrid. We were really looking forward to the experience, especially because we chose the Thompson brand expecting the high level of luxury and service we’ve come to know from other Hyatt luxury properties.Unfortunately, our stay fell short of those expectations. While the hotel itself is modern and attractive, and several front desk team members were genuinely kind and helpful, the overall service didn’t match the Thompson standard that we’ve experienced at other Hyatt luxury properties. As Hyatt Globalist members, we also didn’t feel the level of recognition and appreciation we’ve come to expect from the brand. For our first visit to Madrid, we had hoped the hotel would be part of what made the trip memorable. Instead, it ended up feeling more like an average hotel with a premium price tag than the luxury experience we were expecting. The staff members we interacted with were friendly and welcoming, particularly at the front desk. However, the service was inconsistent throughout our stay. On two consecutive days we waited an unreasonably long time for housekeeping and even for simple requests like bottled water to be delivered to our room. It may seem like a small detail, but experiences like these add up and don’t reflect what I expect from a luxury hotel. We applied a suite upgrade for our stay, and while we appreciated the beautiful terrace view and the high-floor location, the suite itself felt much more like a standard guest room than a true suite. It lacked the extra space and premium feel that I would normally expect from a Thompson suite, especially compared to other Hyatt luxury properties we’ve stayed at. The biggest disappointment was breakfast on the rooftop. On our first morning, we waited nearly 15 minutes just to be seated. After finally getting a table, we had to flag down a waiter ourselves to receive menus, and then stop another waiter just to place our order. The breakfast area felt too small for the number of guests staying at the hotel and appeared noticeably understaffed. The following morning was even worse. The line to get into breakfast stretched through the elevator lobby on the 8th floor, with guests waiting everywhere. Rather than spend more of our morning in line, we decided to leave without having breakfast. While the hotel itself is modern and attractive, and several front desk team members were genuinely kind and helpful, the overall service didn’t match the Thompson standard that we’ve experienced at other Hyatt luxury properties. For our first visit to Madrid, we had hoped the hotel would be part of what made the trip memorable. Instead, it ended up feeling more like an average hotel with a premium price tag than the luxury experience we were expecting. I truly hope the hotel addresses these service and staffing issues because the property has great potential thanks to its excellent location, beautiful facilities, and friendly team. With some improvements, I believe Thompson Madrid could deliver the luxury experience that guests expect from the Thompson brand.

Excellent boutique style hotel. Very friendly staff. Amazing location, walking distance to La Gran Via and major attractions.

I really wanted to like Thompson Madrid, but I left feeling disappointed. The biggest positive was the staff. Camilo at the front desk was outstanding, and every porter I encountered was genuinely warm, welcoming and eager to help. They did everything they could to make my stay enjoyable, and they deserve recognition. Unfortunately, the hotel itself fell well short of my expectations. I initially booked a Deluxe King room. It was spacious, but the window overlooked an unattractive internal courtyard. More importantly, the room offered very little privacy. With the curtains open, people walking along the corridor outside could see directly into the room. That simply isn't what I expect from a luxury hotel. I decided to move to a Twin Room with a Plaza view. Although I was moving to a lower room category, no adjustment to the room rate or other consideration was offered. The plaza view was certainly nicer, but it came with another issue: street activity from the square was clearly audible, making it difficult to escape the noise despite being inside the hotel. Another major disappointment was how poorly the hotel caters to business travellers. There is no proper work desk in the room, which is difficult to understand in a hotel at this price point. Even the tables in the lobby that appear suitable for working don't have convenient power outlets. If you need to spend any meaningful time on a laptop, this simply isn't the right hotel. The location will appeal to visitors who want to be in the middle of Madrid's busiest tourist area, but I found it overcrowded and lacking the neighbourhood character that makes Madrid so enjoyable. In the end, Thompson Madrid struck me as a hotel designed to look good on Instagram rather than one designed around the practical needs and comfort of its guests. It's stylish and fashionable, but it lacks the warmth, functionality and sense of place that I expect from a luxury property. The staff were excellent. The hotel itself was not.
