A Sanctuary of Stillness and Light — Lumeria Retreat, Maui” My stay at Lumeria Retreat in the Maui mountains felt like stepping into a space of true alignment — where nature, beauty, and inner peace all meet. From the moment I arrived, the energy was calm and grounded. Check-in was effortless, and Zora greeted me with genuine warmth, offering a thoughtful tour that helped me instantly settle into the rhythm of the retreat. My room overlooked the meditation lawn, elegantly rustic with natural textures and a serene, soulful feel. The four-poster bed invited deep rest, and the spa-like bathroom — with nine-foot ceilings, a pebble floor, and a rain shower — felt like a ritual in mindfulness itself. The grounds are sacred and serene, with outdoor meditation huts and a stone labyrinth for walking meditation and quiet reflection. Later, I joined a yoga Crystal Bowl Meditation sound healing session by Rose in the Shala where the soft light, resonant tones, and mountain air seemed to realign every chakra and melt away all tension. Dinner at The Wooden Crate was extraordinary, a perfectly balanced expression of quality, freshness, and flavor, prepared with care and intention. Afterward, I found stillness in the hammocks of the whispering pine forest, then ended the evening beneath the stars in the hot tub, feeling both grounded and expansive. The next morning’s hot breakfast was equally thoughtful and sustaining — fresh island fruit, eggs, and wholesome grains that carried me through the day. Luminara Retreat is not just a getaway — it’s a journey inward. A place where nature holds space for mindfulness, where body and spirit find balance, and where you leave feeling more centered, open, and alive. 🌺✨

This place has wonderful reviews, however here are a few things that aren’t pointed out. Needs TLC, mold on outdoor cushion and furniture, very weedy, needs attention in the lawn area, spider webs everywhere, cats running around( going in and out of restaurant) needs general upkeep of buildings. It reminds me of a camp environment. Good location if you want close to Paia.

A life changing place with a beautiful ambience wonderful teachers who share their healing gifts. Staff are very accommodating and professional, and the breakfast food provided by the two cooks was especially nourishing and delicious. We appreciated the extra effort when we asked for small additions. . We loved the rooms and the pool and the great local town of Pa’ia We would highly recommend And we shall return

Lumeria is a quiet retreat -- under 10 min drive down into the beach town of Paia, or under 10 min further into upcountry to Makawao, both have restaurants and shops. The grounds are beautifully kept, and the classes (2 or sometimes 3 a day) were very nice. The AC worked well in the room (the unit had a bright blue light on it -- but the front office has a trick to cover that with a sticky note, just ask).

Lumeria Maui is our most favorite Hale to stay when we visit Maui. Their upcountry location is perfect for a central location to explore all of Maui. This nature inspired meditative retreat is at the steps of so many things to do, and the entire staff will bode with tremendous suggestion. Candice, Brandi and Char are the most friendly and professional house staff while Preston, Shane, and Kyle provide comfort breakfasts every morning of your stay. You will be very well cared. Please avail yourself to an Energy session with Brooke Howsley on Friday mornings and find a Sarah Rothman Hatha class during your stay for sure. Enjoy!
