This hotel is still a great choice if you don’t want to be in the middle of a busy Marbella but within easy reach of there & Estepona. Parking is easy both free & valet. Reception charming & professional. The main attraction for us is the beautiful and extensive pool area right by the beach. As some reviewers have noted the beach is not picture perfect but is public and not owned by the hotel. Buy some swim shoes - we enjoyed swimming in the sea as well as the pools. The pool staff are great, the beds comfortable and there is a Haagen Daas ice cream cabin, what more could you want? Spiler beach restaurant is very good but was closed one night for a private party so do check. Balthasar is a non-event as far a we are concerned. Black Rose bar make good cocktails and the outside lounge area is lovely, overlooking the pools and sea. Our Mediterranean room with fabulous sea views was bright (not all are) with extensive wardrobes, comfy bed and large bathroom. Housekeeping was excellent. Please reconsider your live music. We found the violin & saxophone were a little dreary. We were sorry to hear that the Melia chain are taking over from the end of this season. Thank you Kempinski for many happy times.

Beautiful hotel! Staff were so helpful and the service was amazing. The rooms were clean and the housekeepers always checked in morning and evening to make sure we had everything. The restaurant’s food was so delicious every evening as we ate there 3 evenings. The staff at the restaurant were always so accommodating.

We booked last minute as Puente Romano was not available. As we have a big family we had 2 rooms with an average room rate of £700 per night. We had visited the hotel previously and liked it. Unfortunately it has gone downhill significantly. Only the small childrens swimming pool was open (the larger one had been renovated but not signed off) and due to a large convention this meant it was ridiculously crowded. On the first day it took over 1.5 hours to get a drink and some lunch. I complained to the duty manager Gerard whose response was simply "would you like to check out early". Fortunately a senior member of staff Angel intervened and assisted in improving our experience as best he could. One further note about the childrens pool is that the hotel claim it is 26 degrees and this is blatantly not the case as it was baltic. There are now only 2 restaurants open. The breakfast buffet is completely substandard meaning we chose to eat elsewhere. We had a pleasant lunch at the Spiler Beach club but a very average Evening meal at Balthazar (2 hours to wait for our main). This meant we were forced to dine out of the hotel for the remaining days of our stay. It is clear that a contributory factor to the demise of the hotel is its imminent rebranding to become a Gran Melia (happening in Dec 2025) albeit this was strenuously denied by the management. We decided to check out a day early and go to Puente Romano for our last night. The manager offered a good will gesture of 100 euros off our stay of over 7000 euros which was derisory. If you are thinking of staying here before the changeover to Gran Melia I would think again

My husband and I do not usually stay anywhere more than once, but we have just spent our fourth stay at The Kempinski, Estepona - and this certainly will not be our last! The hotel is immaculate, the rooms are beautifully decorated and there is an attention to detail which shows the care taken of guests. The staff, many of whom we have known since our first holiday there, are most friendly and helpful and there is a feeling of meeting up with old friends. The restaurants are first rate and the position of the hotel, right on the seafront, could not be better. It is a delight to know that, whenever we return, we can count on an excellent stay.
