Discovery Shores Boracay

It’s now August. I stayed here in January. It took me a while to write this review because I was TRAUMATIZED by my experience here. Driver, CEDY… I can’t remember how to spell it. But you’re a piece of… The driver recommended restaurants to us. We just wanted to go to D Mall to get some stuff. But he sold us a good seafood restaurant. Of course, we said yes. Once we got there, he had his minion take us a couple of blocks from a hotel to a SKETCHY ALLEYWAY. In the middle of the sketchy alleyway is the restaurant. On the way to the restaurant, his minion talked about the fires in California where I’m from. She said that California is paying for its sins. How about Philippines then when he gets hurricanes? But I just kept quiet. Please note that I have my 6 MONTH OLD BABY at that time. I thought he’s affiliated with the hotel so it should be safe. So we continued despite all alarm bells in my body going off. The restaurant is a converted house in front of a wet market. When we got there, I asked them if they accept credit card. They kept saying they have GCash. I didn’t know what GCash is. I later find out they don’t accept credit card. Since we don’t know anything and my husband already ordered, we had no choice but to stay. I started googling Gcash, and it’s something else. I tried to sign up for it, but it was difficult because we’re not from the Philippines. Also, the data/signal there is very poor. It took forever to load a website. CEDY’s minion took me to the nearest ATM because I started panicking. When we got the food, the portions are very small. It was okay. It was not worth the trouble we went through. Then when we were about to pay the bill, they increased the total price. It was worth more than I can withdraw from the ATM at that time. I didn’t have much cash on me as well because I’m not used to carrying a lot of cash. My husband left his debit card in the hotel so I was rushing back to the hotel. I left my husband who doesn’t speak the language and my baby in the restaurant while I try to find a way to pay the restaurant. I called Discovery Hotel to send the van right away. They said all vans were taken so I have to wait. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager was apologetic, but the damage is done. I was crying so much. I HAVE TRAVELED AROUND TJE WORLD. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SCAMMED. I WAS ONLY SCAMMED IN THE PHILIPPINES BECAUSE I TRUSTED THE HOTEL STAFF. I TRUSTED DISCOVERY BORACAY. I was crying for 30 minutes in front of the hotel where CEDY dropped us off. No one has come yet. My husband was able to finally get GCash, and he paid the restaurant. The restaurant lowered its price when they saw me crying and getting mad. The hotel manager never came, at the time we resolved it. We just decide to walk to D Mall because that was our original destination anyway. When we were going back to the hotel, it was still CEDY who picked us up. In retrospect, it seems like he was made to wait for us there. He apologized. But what for? It’s too late. I even tipped him several times. But this is what we get. A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE DURING OUR VACATION. This is my first time back to the Philippines after 19 years. This is my son’s first trip. After we came back to the hotel, we didn’t leave the hotel because I was too scared to experience anything like that. I didn’t trust the hotel. I felt so unsafe during my entire stay there. I’m not even going to speak about the good things we had there. Because all of it is overshadowed by that experience. I keep having nightmares about the sketchy alleyway and the feeling of helplessness that I couldn’t protect my child and my husband.

From the moment we arrived at Caticlan airport, the service from Discovery Boracay was outstanding. The smooth airport assistance and transfer made our vacation start stress-free. Check-in was easy and welcoming. Throughout our stay, we felt truly appreciated as guests, thanks to the warm and consistent hospitality. Housekeeping was excellent—our room was always clean and comfortable. Special thanks to Mich and Melfe for their amazing work! The buffet breakfast was another highlight, offering a great variety of local and international dishes, all delicious. A big thank you to the wonderful team who made our stay even better: Pam and Ge from Guest Relations for the warm, personalized service. Ernest and Gen from the beach crew for their energy and care. Mich and Melfe from housekeeping for keeping our room spotless. Rose, Bless, Lester, and Melvin from the dining team for their friendly and attentive service. Discovery Boracay offers more than just a place to stay—it’s a full experience. Can’t wait to return!

Our boracay birthday trip was awesome! from smooth arrival to departure. The personal touch and the hospitable staff of discovery boracay is one of there greatest asset. we are so thankful for making my companion birthday super special! from the housekeeping team who went beyond extra effort. Kudos to sean and the rest of the HK team and to Marianne from the breakfast buffet area! very friendly! very accommodating! her skill with it comes to customer experience is top notch and stellar! kudos Marianne! you deserve a raise! but overall the staff of discovery shores are all professional and embodied the true filipino hospitality! i never felt uncomfortable or uneasy ,i felt Im home. Thanks Discovery Shores Boracay! The second time around but service is getting better and better😀

this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The attention to detail, level of care, and professionalism of the entire team made our stay truly memorable. Never disappoints. The rooms were immaculate as always. The staff were amazing and attentive. Incredible. They are what makes every visit so unforgettable. Also, the coffee in Discovery Boracay is very underrated. If you want a one of a kind experience of service with heart, stay in Discovery Boracay.
