Reviews for Baglioni Resort Maldives

Amazing Island Getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Amazing place and amenities. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The room service and turndowns were perfect. Restaurants offered enough diversity and tastiness for us to fill our stomachs for 4 nights stay. Lots of fun things to do we mostly did working and beach time. Chingiz was a superb host went above and beyond and kept us informed about activities, helped with errands and reservations.

Nice Island

Our thirty-sixth visit to the Maldives but first to Baglioni. We stayed 7 nights in an Water Villa with all-inclusive. The rooms are large and have plenty of space for our neighbors. Unfortunately there is not much privacy because part of the deck is visible from the jetty and when the neighbor on the left goes down the stairs to enter the sea, he can see our bathroom completely. There are several restaurants and all of them have beautiful views. There is a lot of choice on the menus but I found many dishes lacking in flavor and presentation. The service is excellent and we have no complaints about anyone. The beaches are extensive and we can walk around the entire island on the beach. The island has a reasonable reef but, unfortunately, due to the rough seas visibility in the best part of the reef was very bad.. On the far side of the beach, visibility was much better but there was less coral. In any case, we had an excellent time.

A wonderful week with a superb staff taking care of us. Thank you Jitu for a fantastic yoga week alongside a nice diving experience with the diving center.

Don't expect luxury from this hotel.

In February 2025, we went on vacation to the Baglioni Hotel. Unfortunately, throughout our stay, we encountered numerous issues. First, the room. We had booked a water villa. Initially, we were given a room with a non-functioning air conditioner. When we asked the assistant to call a technician, he came, gave it a superficial look, measured the temperature (which was between 28–30°C), said everything was fine, and left. Only after we met with the general manager did they finally change our room to one where the air conditioner was working — though barely. Second, there was absolutely no privacy. From almost anywhere, people could see what you were doing inside the room or on the terrace. There was no proper shade on the terrace — just one small umbrella that hardly covered anything. Third, the main pool. You have to argue with the staff to get a few extra towels, and they justify their refusal by saying you already have some. There is only one restroom available for the entire pool area, bar, and two restaurants, which often leads to long lines. Next to the bar, there’s a billiard table and a table tennis setup, both in poor condition. The billiard table was covered in sand, causing the balls to roll poorly, and it didn’t even have a complete set of balls. The table tennis rackets were damaged, and the ball was deflated. Fourth, the buffet food. We only went there for breakfast. The food was of very low quality — basic and unappetizing. If you ask for eggs, the chef either undercooks or overcooks them. On multiple occasions, we even found fleas on the vegetables, which is completely unacceptable for a hotel of this class. Fifth, the hotel in general is very dirty and poorly maintained. It does not deserve to be listed among the “Leading Hotels of the World.” This was by far the worst Baglioni Hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Lastly, the management. The general manager, Andrea, who is about 25 years old, was extremely unpleasant and virtually inaccessible to regular guests. I would also like to mention the food and beverage manager, Swathu. Although she may come across as polite, you won’t get any real assistance from her. In February 2025, we went on vacation to the Baglioni Hotel. This is a mediocre hotel with terrible top management, among the regular staff there are many good friendly people. But the fish rots from the head!

Baglioni spoiled us so bad we have to return soon.

The biggest and obvious differentiator was the service and the food. It wasn't our first time in the Maldives so we knew what to expect. But our GRO Diana was so responsive, it didn't take but a few minutes to get our requests done. Forgot to spend some resort credits and make a flash decision for a spa session? No problem. Walk in after 15 minutes. Tooth brushes for the long trip home? Obviously. It is good to notice that the GRO and the rest of the resort's crew have a tight communication that allows speedy responses and without any details missing. And the food... We travel a lot and we visit famous restaurants. Baglioni's flagship Limonaia, Japanese Yama, outdoor bbq Fuego and the slightly casual Taste and Mirto are all great. My athlete son went berserk and cleared three mains after an appetizer and a pasta! All inclusive to the max. In room dining is the most unique though. The menu is NOT repetitive to other restaurant's offerings!! Separate and all quality. We ordered in 8 dishes over lunch and timing, plating, quality was all tier 1 level. As an Italian resort, they do pasta very well but to have spaghetti and pacheri delivered at perfection to your room? There were these hidden details we noticed with joy. Go. Go when you need pampering and lots of food. Dive center deserves recognition for sure also but it is getting too long. Just do a private fishing excusion. You will see.
