Art isn’t best enjoyed in the sanitized, temperature-controlled confines of a great museum. Art is best enjoyed while reclined in the spectacular gardens of ES Revellar Art Resort, or even more intimately, while drifting off to sleep in a space designed to tell the story of ancient civilizations and faraway lands. The resort’s collection spans from primitive, medieval and religious work to contemporary paintings, and its grounds were built on the concept of Land Art – using the materials and framework of nature to artistically alter the landscape. There are plenty of corners of solitude on this 600-year-old estate, and they’re not just for culture lovers – fresh Mediterranean cuisine, creativity coaching and daily yoga classes by the sea make for an idyllic wellness retreat.

A somewhat unusual hotel located inland near the small town of Compos. Our room, a Junior Suite, was quirky and really cool. It could have done with having a bath as well as a shower. Some of the standard rooms looked quite small. The reception is not manned 24/7 and even during the normal working day it was often unoccupied and you were expected to use WhatsApp to make contact. The pool is very small and the pool bar (the only bar at the hotel) was only open for a few hours a day and closed around 530pm The restaurant was a pretty basic structure and was sweltering at breakfast time. The breakfast choices were limited to say the least. The evening menu was really good however and foodies will love the choices and quality of the food. The grounds were sort of impressive with lots of bits of art dotted here and there although there was no coherent theme - it felt like things had been collected and just scattered around the grounds. The local town had little to offer and nearest restaurants were about 15 min drive away. On the plus side this meant they were full of locals and not the usual tourist traps. If you are staying here you definitely need a car.

This is a lovely hotel. The setting is very peaceful and the grounds are absolutely lovely. It is like being based in a park/ botanical garden. We slept so well - not least because of the peace and quiet, but also the biggest, comfiest bed ever! Breakfasts were lovely, sat on the outside terrace area. We only dined in once in the evening which was very pleasant and the complementary bottle of wine was a nice touch. The only 'grumble' we had was that we felt the waiting on staff weren't always on top of their game (eg. not clearing plates away when finished with/ topping up breakfast buffet promptly). We would definitely stay again, but it's worth noting that you definitely need a car if staying here as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. We liked this as we didn't want to stay somewhere touristy, but it is something to be aware of. Special shout out to Alvaro on reception who was very helpful in giving us recommendations for places to visit.

Beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings. Unique and very peaceful. Loved seeing the turtles in the pond and the cockerells made sure we didn't sleep in! Great breakfast and we made full use of the bikes. Only 5k from the town centre and enjoyed a local fair during our stay. Car hire would be advisable if you don't want to use bikes and rely on taxis. Trip by bus into Manacor was lovely. All staff very helpful, from the receptionist to the handyman Benjamin. Had a great week. Thank you.

We very much enjoyed our week at this very special art hotel. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Maria was particularly kind and friendly. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of the artwork was impressive, The chef is amazing! We loved the delicious menus which were excellent value and changed daily. It’s a perfect place to relax and visit local markets, nearby beaches and Palma.

I can’t say I had a bad stay here, but it most certainly did not live up to my expectations. Trip advisor lists this as a 5 star hotel, and the majority of reviews seem overwhelmingly positive. Based on this, I was expecting a high end experience, and unfortunately that’s not what we got. Check in was awkward, and though the woman was sweet, she didn’t seem to have any idea what was going on. Our “upgraded” room in the tower was really spacious but a very weird layout, and not the quality I would have expected. There was a blanket covering the couch that had a large pile of someone’s hair on it. It could have come out of the wash like that, but attention to detail? The shower was a tiny plastic stall and the shower wand wouldn’t stay up so you had no choice but to hold it at all times. The grounds have real potential, but honestly just seemed unkempt, somewhat unloved. Again, attention to detail? I have seen this hotel advertised for 110 euros, and I probably would have been happy with it for that price, but it was definitely not worth the 200 that it cost us to stay there.
