Beautiful but wouldn’t go again

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Firstly. The hotel is beautiful and everything from the rooms to the gardens are beautiful. But I wouldn’t give this a 5 stars review or say it’s a luxury retreat. Yes, it is a very nice building & the rooms are lovely and staff are great! But, basic “luxury” needs aren’t met. A few things we felt would add that luxury feel and what other guests said to us felt. • No pool bed cushions, the beds are hard as rocks and you can’t sit for more than 30 mins without going numb. We brought a cushion from our room down to sit on, on the few occasions we were by the pool. • No poolside service, if you want a fizzy drink you have to get it from an outdoor fridge and sign your name on a note pad. GDPR? I went into the dining area one day to ask for a coffee in the afternoon, it was a flat out “no” machine is off. I asked even for hotel guests? and it was still a firm NO. There isn’t a poolside menu or any snacks. We ended up buying snacks to bring with us to the pool. Only fizzy drinks, beer and water. It would have been great to make use of the bar area that they had for pool side service with a light menu of food and drinks. Especially as you can’t eat at the restaurant unless you’ve booked ahead. Sadly we spent everyday out of the hotel as you simply can’t sit and relax by the pool and apart from a small library there isn’t anywhere else. (Unless you go back to your bedroom) You NEED to hire a car to stay here to travel. • The Barrett’s restaurant isn’t connected to the hotel. If you want a meal you have to book and unless you’ve done this in advance you’re not eating there. Even if you’re staying at the hotel you aren’t a priority. This was tricky because if you didn’t hire a car you’d have to get taxis every day for every meal or spend the whole day out of the hotel. • The Barrett’s restaurant is also very very popular with instagram girls, you’ll be sat having your meal with people walking up and down and around you taking videos and photos. Not a bad thing for the exposure or the restaurant and making money but not if you’ve booked a romantic meal on your honeymoon. So just bare that in mind. We paid for bed and breakfast - the breakfasts weren’t amazing. We thought maybe going down at 9:30 was to late and we missed all the good stuff, breakfast starts at 8-10:30 but we had an early morning and went down to breakfast for 8:30 and there was only 4 small pastries, bowls with nuts and seeds, fruit bowls and yogurt and some meat you cut. It was a bit sad considering it was £20 per person and we paid £40 a day for 8 days. A large selection and more choices would have been good! There isn’t a menu on each table for other breakfast options but they do ask you what you’d like and you can get other things like an omelette . The staff do pass around a set menu with a few options on when you sit down and ask if you’d like anything on it, It was just a bit basic really. Nothing bad; but nothing worth £40. You’re “looked after” but you’re not treated like a guest at a luxury hotel. There isn’t any service unless you’re sat eating at the restaurant or for breakfast. Even by the pool you’re just left to your own devices, which isn’t bad as luckily all the guests where chilled but no hotel staff ask if you need a towel or if you’d like a drink. Your rooms are cleaned and that is always nice! We did luck out one night and were able to get a drink at the outside bar/ restaurant area when I was closed and we were appreciative of that so thank you! The guy who served us was really nice. The location is beautiful, the building is beautiful, staff are very friendly, and the gardens are really looked after but it just lacks in that extra bit of luxury and care to guests, especially when you’ve spent £3k just on the room & breakfast The beauty of the place is the winning factor. People do get married here and it has that event factor. But we couldn’t spend a full day here sadly as there wasn’t anything to do, limited food options and not a place to relax. Just a pretty place to sleep and be at.

Breathtaking views !

We visited this hotel with some friends and what a find, it is small, intimate, friendly, and set in the most picturesque grounds. An infinity pool , which took your breath away as it was cold to jump in, but fun. The deluxe rooms are beautiful with lovely balconies to sit out on, all different. The breakfast we had outdoors, taking in the views, the food tasty, with hot options available. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the ladies at breakfast and the waiters in the restaurant. We experienced an evening meal in their restaurant, Barretes, the food was delicious, with the sun setting, a memorable evening. I would definitely recommend hiring a small car, the drive up to the hotel was very small winding, single lane tracks, but once you've done it once , not a problem. The nearest town of Soller was worth a visit, with a tram ride, to the port.

✨ A Dream Come True at Cas Xorc & Barretes – Beyond Perfect ✨

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 months ago

we knew we had found something magical. Nestled in the stunning Mallorcan hills, this venue isn’t just beautiful – it’s breathtaking. Every corner of the property is like a scene from a romantic film, with lush gardens, panoramic views of the Tramuntana mountains, and that perfect golden light that makes everything feel surreal. From our very first visit with Clara, we knew Cas Xorc was where we wanted to get married. Even with less than a year’s notice, the team made it happen – and not just happen, but exceed every possible expectation. The Cas Xorc team – Clara, Carina, and Neus – were simply phenomenal. Their communication was prompt, clear, and always reassuring. They recommended exceptional vendors who delivered flawless results, and they worked tirelessly to bring our vision to life. From start to finish, they provided nothing short of 10-star service, not just for us, but for every single guest who joined us throughout our stay. Then there’s Barretes – and the incredible David & Team, who went above and beyond at every turn. Our wedding taster menu was an experience in itself – we were absolutely spoiled with exquisite food and expertly paired wines. The communication from David was outstanding, and on the day, he and the entire team delivered a dining experience that was world-class. The staff were so attentive and seamless that they blended into the celebration – it felt like magic. I’d turn around to speak to a guest, and somehow, my empty glass would be full again. We honestly can’t thank every single person at Cas Xorc and Barretes enough – from management and wedding planning, to the housekeeping, spa, restaurant, and even security. Every detail was flawless. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of – and more. The venue, the setting, the food, the service… absolutely unforgettable. Our guests haven’t stopped talking about it – the location, the atmosphere, and the food (which truly was to die for). Cas Xorc gave us the most perfect experience of our lives. We’ll treasure it forever. If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding that’s stylish, soulful, and impeccably executed – this is it. Five stars doesn’t do it justice. It was pure magic. 🌿💍✨

Stunningly beautiful location and views

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed April 11, 2025

Ca's Xorc has breathtakingly beautiful views, you are surrounded by mountains and there are views all the way down to the sea. Their hotel grounds are gorgeous, there are several outside spaces with seating areas, all take advantage of the lovely views. There is an infinity pool and a hot tub. The breakfast was one of the best I have had, with freshly baked warm pastries and several freshly baked loaves every day. This is a fabulous retreat away from the crowds, the track up to it is not for the faint hearted. You are definitely better with the smallest car you can manage with to negotiate the many sharp bends, but it is absolutely worth it when you get there. Highly recommended.

A Truly Perfect Bucolic Hideaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed September 29, 2024

Ca's Xorc Adults Only Luxury Retreat outside of Soller on Mallorca describes itself as a hidden gem, and after staying there for the most perfect three days, we could not agree more. Two years ago, a friend drove us up the Tramuntana Mountains to Ca's Xorc for a drink. They graciously insisted on opening a superior bottle of Cava for us even though we only wanted 3 glasses, and I have always wanted to return. Ca's Xorc is beautifully landscaped with nooks to find privacy scattered throughout the property. The view of the mountains and distant sea from our private terrace was so spectacular we went out several times in the middle of the night to look at the stars. The cuisine from Barretes Restaurant on the property was above what we hoped. I could write a page alone describing entree selections such as the fresh wide noodles with lobster and burrata not to be surpassed by truly unique desserts such as a hot and cold chocolate concoction with white chocolate "crackers" adorning the top. But beyond this, and an essential requirement for us, was the staff. Not just competent and helpful, but with a genuine warmth wanting to do everything possible to ensure we enjoy our visit. There are not words to say how much Carina at reception enhanced our stay. David, the Restaurant Manger accommodated every request. Our standards are high and we could not recommend this hotel retreat more highly. As an aside, we took the Mallorca-Menorca 1 hr 15 minutes fast ferry to Ciutadella on the neighboring island of Menorca for a few days, which is easy and a more than rewarding side trip.
