Tropica Island Resort

We really enjoyed our recent stay at Tropica Island Resort! We stayed in the Pool Bure Villa for 3 nights, and overall, it was a beautiful and relaxing experience. The grounds were very well kept, our room was nice and clean, and the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. The island itself is beautiful and makes for a peaceful getaway. The biggest downside is that if the weather doesn’t cooperate and you’re unable to book activities off the island, you’re pretty much limited to what’s available at the resort. I also think the food and drink menu could use some work. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a meal or drink during our stay that really impressed us. With such a beautiful property, improving the food and beverage experience would definitely take the resort to the next level. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and loved the beauty, cleanliness, and hospitality of Tropica Island Resort.

We recently stayed at Tropica Island Resort and there were certainly things we loved. Our bure (#2) was fantastic — private, beautifully positioned and very comfortable. We loved the plunge pool, outdoor recliners and swing seat, and having both indoor and outdoor showers. The main pool was also lovely and we spent plenty of time there. However, there were several things that surprised and disappointed us. We didn't receive a lei or any of the welcome gifts on arrival, despite these being advertised in the package we had. The beach was also not what we expected. It is quite rocky rather than a sandy swimming beach, although swimming is possible. The "complimentary water" was another surprise. We feel the website should perhaps make it clearer that this is limited complimentary water. Only 1 litre per person per day was provided in the room. This has to cover drinking, cleaning your teeth and making tea and coffee, so it doesn't go very far. Additional bottled water cost FJ$9 per litre, including when ordering water with lunch or dinner. We think this is important for future guests to know. Had we known beforehand, we would probably have brought extra drinking water with us. Instead, we brought wine! Food was probably our biggest disappointment. The menu didn't change daily, so choices became repetitive, and there was less seafood than we expected. Breakfast was the same each morning and there were quite a few flies around the uncovered food. On occasions when ingredients had run out, this wasn't mentioned when ordering. For example, my Cobb Salad arrived without the avocado listed on the menu. I only found out they had run out when I asked the waiter why it wasn't included. We were also very disappointed with the Fijian Lovo night at FJ$160 per person. We had been told it would be similar to a hangi, but the meat was very tough and there wasn't much in the way of vegetables. The website advertises 2 locations for dining, and while that is correct the menu is the same in both locations. Entertainment was also less than we expected. We enjoyed the Fijian night entertainment, but that was the only evening entertainment during our stay, and the advertised Thursday evening serenading didn't happen. Housekeeping was another minor frustration. Twice our room wasn't serviced until after 3.30pm which was particularly inconvenient as it meant we couldn't comfortably return to our room for an afternoon nap without being disturbed. On a couple of occasions toilet paper and facecloths weren't replaced. With no phone in the room, we had to walk to reception to request them — definitely "Island Time"! Overall, Tropica is a beautiful, peaceful resort and our bure was wonderful. We really enjoyed relaxing by the pool and in our private plunge pool. However, we felt that some of the inclusions, food and service didn't quite match the expectations created by the resort's website.

Everyone was gracious, caring and welcoming..Vanaca Vaca Levu! Marira, Litia, Tony, Zack and Shug, were the best. Our masssges from Veronica and Sharry were amazing! Loved it. Beautiful bure, with amazing view. Definitely coming back. Naka!

Vima was amazing - so kind and she always greeted us by our name. The view was amazing and we had the most incredible sunset each night. The staff welcomed us by saying hello family and that’s exactly how we were treated by them, like we were family 💕

My boyfriend and I just got home from staying at the Tropica Island Resort and our experience was nothing short of relaxing, fun, and filled with great memories. For starters, it is a beautiful property with beautiful bures. We stayed in a Sanctuary Room with one of the bures that was not directly in front of the water, it was beautiful and spacious and all bures include a private pool which was so fun. Everything was clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the amazing breakfast spreads every day. The dinners were always relaxing and the mood was calm but exciting alongside other guests and the amazing staff. Getting to know the staff was the highlight of our experience! We feel like we made some great friends at Tropica Island including V, Vina (my yaca), Chris, and others who I can’t remember all their names. They were so welcoming and we had so much fun chatting with them throughout our stay!!!! We are so grateful for this experience and definitely want to come back and hopefully see our new friends next time we are in Fiji. We did Cloud 9 one day and scuba diving (2 tank dive) another day and coordinating / booking the transfers was super easy - we were able to do it day of / day before with no problem. One thing to note for Cloud 9 is that there needs to be a minimum of 4 guests to go for the day so I recommend bringing this up as soon as you arrive if you are interested, that way you can confirm to go on a day when there are other people going as well. There were 6 of us and we booked the day before! Super easy, fun, and beautiful! Thank you to all the staff for the great hospitality and a wonderful experience!!!!! A trip we will not forget!
