Tropica Island Resort

Small compact resort, only 40 adults. We felt so relaxed the minute we hopped off the transfer boat. Such a friendly, happy welcome each time guests arrived or departed. Staff are the star- all gorgeous!!! I miss their singing! We have since moved to a large 5star resort on the main island and it just doesn’t compare to the friendliness of Tropica. P

While the location, the accommodation, the food were all excellent, what made this a fantastic experience was the staff! They were always welcoming and made you feel as though you were family. Their attention to detail was incredible! From the welcome to the farewell ceremonies, and every interaction in between, we were shown respect and offered excellent service at all times. I hope the owners of the resort understand the valuable asset they have in their staff!

We loved Tropica. We were able to snorkel off the beach which was important to us. The bure’s were spotless . The restaurant and food are amazing. The staff are outstanding- friendly, welcoming and happy to help with any requests. We enjoyed the adults only resort

Had the most wonderful time at Tropica Island Resort. From the friendly airport transfer to the port, and then the catamaran to the island (only a short 1h15m boat ride), we were welcomed with a beautiful song and smiles as we arrived at the stunning island. From there, we felt like we were part of the family. The staff were beyond kind and wonderful, helping us with anything we needed with the biggest smiles and good laughs anytime of day. The accommodation was beautiful and maintained well. The resort was always sparkling clean and our private beach was the perfect mix of serenity and beauty. The facilities were fantastic and lots of fun activities for us to join, but also plenty of space to have our own quiet time to enjoy some much needed relaxation and downtime. The food was delicious and the drinks were tasty too! All in all, we had such a wonderful experience and I loved being part of the Tropica Island Resort family for the week. Vinaka! :)

We just spent a week at Tropica Island resort, Malolo island in Mamanuca islands. We loved it. It was a wonderful week with lovely people, great food, excellent excursions and beautiful bures. The sunsets were incredible. The water warm. Its a warm, wonderful place which I highly recommend. The location is superb - its nearest neighbours are luxury resorts of six senses and likuliku resort. The resort has undergone a refurbishment and everything is lovely. From the happy hour bar, restaurant overlooking the infinity pool, bures and grounds. The bure was very spacious and comfortable, the bed very comfortable and we slept really well (no roosters waking you up here). Loved the outdoor and indoor showers. We were in beachfront bure 1 - its the furtherest from the restaurant and pier we liked its privacy - we enjoy a bit of walking. The staff would all walk past on the beach, walking from their village when starting work, or when finished their shift - we would wave and chat to them all. The staff told us many guests dont like staying in B1 as they have to walk furtherest - we loved it. From the Tropica island we loved paddling to the rock island, snorkelling spots in the bay. And also we could easily paddle around to six senses and snorkel their reef. Or paddle around Google Island (Larry Page’s private island). It’s possible to swim or snorkel at any time of the day as the access channel is deep, even at lowest tide. The giant clam restoration area on the other side of rock island had dozens and dozens of giant clams. The reefs off the resort always had something to see. One day we saw 4 turtles in the bay. I did three snorkelling excursions and the snorkelling trip to garden reef was my favourite by far. We did a hike to the top of Mt Silo - thanks Sio - the best! (take water and good walking shoes, its steep in places and we did get lost finding the trail). We enjoyed the daily activities of fish feeding, basket weaving, coconut demonstration. The water activities equipment was excellent condition. Diving with subsurface was also excellent - which we booked through tropica. The stand out feature at Tropica is the staff and they were all friendly. We enjoyed the wonderful call of “bula” around the resort. The food was great. Loved the fresh pastries, omelet’s, overnight oats, fresh fruit and juicer at breakfast. We then spent the morning out on the water - paddling, snorkelling, diving. And shared a sandwich or taco for lunch. The thai dinner and fijian evening was our favourite. We did the pier dinner as we were celebrating a special occasion - but i have never ever spent that much on a single meal before. The complimentary massage at the spa was relaxing and the Pure Fiji products they used were very nice. This is not a sterile western resort. so you might be left with 2 beach towels, or no beach towels. Sometimes an order may be forgotten - these are things that makes it unique - it’s Fiji. The staff were all Fijian (except for chef and hospitality manager). Ive been to resorts where its mainly foreign staff - I much prefer local staff and without the sterile standards.. Fiji time - so just enjoy. Actually while Fiji time is a thing - the mealtimes, outings, transfers were all strictly on time! It’s easier to get lamb or beef than a drinking coconut. Despite our repeated requests we didnt get drinking coconuts - its coming, it will be here later, come back later….(and check the prices of coconut before you order one as we had one with our pier dinner and were charged $30 each). And ironically when i got home i went to the supermarket and drinking coconuts were $5. Do check your invoice the day before you leave - we had charges which were incorrectly on our invoice. Happy Hour was a bit of a disappointment. Prices were all the same except for the cocktail of the day was $5 off. We didnt like all the plastic bottles drinking water - hundreds and hundreds used every week. We have our own purifier and used this every day. I can understand drinking water is very financially lucrative - but it would be so great if reuseable bottles were issued and guests filled up at purified water stations. We liked having the fridge in our room so we could keep water and drinks chilled. It was a fantastic holiday, with wonderful memories, great people and many laughs and a place i highly recommend. we will treasure the memories of the wonderful staff we met. We loved the changes Shuker and Wyan are making with the menu options as well. And for the staff - where do I start (apologies to anyone I missed or spelt name wrong - we still appreciated you) Reception - Sio, Ana, Veri room attendants - Naomi, Joanie, Rosie wait staff - Vina, Ili, Latia, Zake, Marai Bar - Leigh, Valati water sports - Matt, Adul, Joe, Ziggy, Mike Sonny - a fantastic singer! Wyan the chef, and Shuker (food manager). Maintenance - Villi, DomDom, Benny, Mateo and all the others. Steve the night watchman And welcome to Gretel who will be a great addition! And to all the others (including the electrical team) who contributed to a friendly, warm happy, welcome environment thank you - I just couldnt remember all your names but you are still part of the great family. And all those who we never met but gave us a cheery wave and Bula - thank you as well. We miss you all already! And to address some previous reviews I read prior to our trip - we stayed over a week and there was no disruption and noise to guests at all. Just normal ongoing maintenance
