Reviews for Tropica Island Resort

Great second stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

My wife and I had a lovely time, this was in fact our second time to this resort, and it felt like coming home again. It was a genuinely restorative experience to stay here (again) and escape the Australian winter. Staff are very welcoming and we felt like we're now one of their family. For those wanting more adventure and a less chill vibe, this may not be the resort for you, though there are certainly options to explore further afield with activities planned by the resort staff. For us, this resort is well suited to our preference for chilling out by the pool or on a paddleboard on warm ocean water. While it doesn't have a sandy beach, a reef awaits a mere few steps from your bure doorstep, and it is easy to go out there yourself, equipped with the provided snorkel, paddleboard, kayak or just your swimmers. Rooms are clean and have good amenities. we appreciated the tea-making facilities, outdoor shower, and wifi. The new plunge pools provide good ways to cool down in front of your own bure looking at the sunset. Special thanks to all the staff, Litia, Matthew, Sonny, Zippy, and in particular SIo who was on hand to sort out our travel in/out of the resort when we needed help. Thanks for welcoming us into your resort family and making this a treasured experience.

If you are expecting a sterile 5 star resort I imagine you might be not satisfied exactly - but that would be your loss . . What makes this resort awesome are the lovely people here to help you - Vina , Maraia, Ziggy , Leah ,,Zack but all of the staff were amazing - including the pastry chef who went out of his way to pack us up some nibbles for our 5.30am departure.. Memories were made . Vanaka

Fiji Paradise

What a fabulous place for a holiday. The staff were amazing - here's looking at you Viri, Vani, Ili and Joey, in particular. Thank you being so helpful and doing everything you could to look after us.We felt very spoiled. The resort is nice and quiet. One night some especially exuberant guests had the music in the bar on very loudly, but the staff were responsive and made sure that everyone was happy. I loved that we could still kayak, swim and snorkel any time we wanted by going out along the channel and following the reef round, despite there being no sandy beach and the tide going out a long way. The diversity of fish was great, and we didn't feel the need to go on any trips. (The day trips were pretty expensive, I thought) Our bure had just been refurbished and was beautiful. We especially liked the matting-type floor, which meant we weren't walking on slippery tiles. We had lovely decking outside, and could move our loungers around to sit in the sun or shade, as we wished. The plunge pool was perfect for cooling off. The bed was comfy, though a bit soft for my liking. The bure had excellent airflow, with (meshed) louvres on three sides, so we never used the air conditioning. The bathroom was beautiful with an excellent shower. We loved sitting on our swinging chair to watch the world go by, the boats coming and going, and the gorgeous sunsets. The food was OUTSTANDING. Pretty much every meal was excellent, and some incredible. The island night meal was divine (as was the staff singing and dancing). And I can highly recommend the enchiladas. The chef was very open to preparing delicious vegetarian options for us, whenever we asked. The (free) breakfast included both a GREAT cold buffet, and cooked options if you wanted. I thought the food off the menu was expensive, though it was very very good - just be prepared. Having said that, alcohol seemed very reasonable , if you're that way inclined. There is still some building happening at either end of the resort, so the sandy track that runs along in front of all the beachfront bures was well used. We really enjoyed watching staff go past, along with the occasional tractor. Everyone was friendly and greeted us with a wave and a bula as they went by. Our beachfront bure was fairly in the middle of the row and we had no noise during the day. All in all we had a fabulous holiday. I would love to come back one day.
