Attention Please

Everything was great until I checked out around noon today. After leaving for the airport and checking in, I realized about an hour and a half later that I had left my laptop in my room. I immediately called the front desk, assuming it had already been found and secured, but it took some time for them to locate it. I was also surprised because housekeeping reported a makeup stain on a washcloth in the bathroom, yet my laptop — which has a bright yellow case and is very noticeable — was not immediately reported. This stood out to me because about a week and a half ago, at the same hotel in Boracay, housekeeping returned my Tahitian pearl necklace just minutes after we had checked out and left the room. Given that experience, I expected the same level of attentiveness this time.

We discovered that this hotel has a standing policy that no early check-in is allowed until 2pm— even if the room is clean and ready. Every hotel certainly has the right to create their own policies, and I respect their right to run their business as they choose. I also completely understand if the room isn’t ready until published check-in time. However, our room was clean and ready. When I asked if our room was available (at 12:00pm) the lady that checked us in said “yes, but I’ll have to ask my manager if we can check you in before 2pm”. She asked us to wait in the bar area and miraculously right at 2pm our room was ready. I also have a standing policy. Any hotel that makes guests wait until an arbitrary time to access their room— even when the room is clean and ready much earlier— automatically earns a 1-star rating. This hotel is focused on what is convenient for them and strictly following their policies instead of taking care of customers.

A Stay Worth Repeating

We had an amazing time during our stay at Discovery Primea! Leona from the front of house team was very helpful and a pleasure to speak with. We didn’t encounter any issues during both check-in and check-out. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant — always polite and greeting us with big smiles, which made the experience feel truly welcoming. The in-room dining was quick as well. We simply ordered through the website linked to the QR code on the table in our room, and everything was seamless. Christian, our room service attendant, was also very pleasant and courteous. We would definitely come back and highly recommend staying at this hotel. It truly feels like a five-star experience.
