Shana Hotel & Spa

We had a wonderful stay at Shana by the Beach and left with some truly special memories. The setting itself feels like you’re tucked right into the jungle-meets-ocean, peaceful, lush, and full of life. The food was consistently amazing throughout our stay. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with a menu offering tons of options for all ages and food preferences. Getting around the property in the golf cart made everything effortless and charming. It made the steep jungle paths feel easy, even a bit adventurous, in a playful way. A special mention to the manager, who was incredibly attentive and kind. You could really feel the care and pride in how the property is run, which elevated the whole experience. We also loved how much wildlife we saw—monkeys, birds, and so many little jungle moments that made every walk feel alive and unpredictable in the best way. And the private beach access was a huge highlight. Quiet, beautiful, it felt like a hidden corner of paradise just a short ride away. Overall, a beautiful stay with incredible nature, great service, and many thoughtful touches that made it feel very memorable.

The best part was the semi-private beach. There’s a path that leads to it, but it is quite a hike especially for people with limited mobility. That being said, it is a nice, decent sized beach nestled in a cove; the water is pretty calm and swimmable. The pool area was also a highlight—the view of the beach from there was great, and having an adults-only pool was wonderful. But there were a few issues that detracted from the experience. Service was inconsistent. Some staff were fine, but others, especially the bartender, seemed uninterested or even a bit rude at times. The room needed more attention. The bathroom sink was clogged, very unpleasant. All of the bedding had a mildewy smell, which was the worst part of it. On top of that, the walls were thin enough that you could hear a lot of what was going on in neighboring rooms and in the hallway/outside. Overall, the location, beach and adults pool were great, but the service and room quality need improvement to match that.

Rooms and decor are a little dated but spacious and comfortable. All staff were very helpful and kind. Loved the restaurant - great food with great variety, especially the free breakfast. And cannot beat the amazing view!

Beautiful and great customer service’s

We had such a great experience at Shana by the Beach. The staff was great (Sidney at the pool was such a great server). The short trail hike to the beach was really convenient. The grounds are kept really well. The wildlife was so fun to watch. Watch your papaya around those white faced monkeys, they're quick! Overall, such a great resort!
