Everything was very enjoyable. Believe the resort is better fit for younger family use. Without an open ocean front, the stay was a little disappointing. The fact that the restaurant on the point was closed for repair was a little disappointing. The

Disgusting Hotel

We booked this property expecting a premium, comfortable stay, but what we experienced was absolutely unacceptable. Roaches came out every single night near our private pool area, which made it impossible to relax and left us feeling disgusted—especially with young children in the room. Instead of providing a real solution, staff arrived with nothing more than a green aerosol spray can, stomped on roaches, and left the dead insects scattered on the floor. The following night, the problem continued exactly the same. When we brought this to management’s attention the next day, even showing them pictures and videos, they dismissed it. Their excuse was that the hotel “goes through an extensive cleaning process,” which is clearly not true. As the owners of a professional cleaning company with over 20 years of experience, we know exactly what proper hygiene and sanitation look like. This hotel does not meet even the most basic standards. The room was not only infested with roaches but also visibly dirty—stained curtains, dusty corners, dirty bathroom fixtures, and poor overall maintenance. The only “solutions” offered were to fumigate again or move us to another room. Neither addressed the actual issue of the property being infested and unsanitary. We paid for a premium level stay and expected the highest standard of cleanliness, comfort, and safety. Instead, we got the complete opposite—stress, disgust, and a management team that refused to take responsibility. For a hotel that claims to hold certifications and advertise luxury, this experience was a disgrace. We are demanding a refund for the nights we endured these conditions. Guests deserve honesty, hygiene, and accountability—not excuses and indifference.

Beach, drinks, and relaxation

From the moment we first arrived at Barceló Karmina we were greeted with beautiful views. Check in was smooth and easy, with a complementary drink while you wait. Our suite had a gorgeous view of the ocean. Each room in the suite was spacious with stunning bathrooms. The beach and pools were refreshing and relaxing. Plenty of activities to keep you busy and 3 meals a day at the buffet.

This was our second time here, the first being our honeymoon. Dirty air ducts in vent returns and closet wood slits. CAR WAS KEYED IN THE PARKING LOT on the lower level. Came to make reservations for evening dining at 9:30am and was turned away telling us we need to come back after 10am. Woman was very snooty about it. Apparently we picked a bad time to come because the buffet was often out of stock on many food items, and with only one person making omelettes you have to wait in line for 15 minutes while the rest of your family eats or their food gets cold, waiting. Didn't use the pools because it was full of 100's of people who were drinking, and never got out of the pool, all day. It should have been a classy experience, considering the prices, but it ended up feeling like being on an over crowded cruise ship. Bus boy service, however was FANTASTIC. However, we won't be back.
