With its tawny beaches and mountainous backdrop, Spain(TM)s Costa del Sol is a classic holiday destination. Its natural resort environment is ideally suited to Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus, a relaxing beachfront sanctuary just a few kilometers from the historic center of Marbella. Colonial-style guest rooms and suites boast splendid views of the Mediterranean Sea, while gastronomy takes a front seat in a collection of exceptional restaurants, whose diversity ranges from an international rice bar to Italian and Basque cuisine.

great service and was beyond everything that was promised! Terrific hotel and rooms were above and beyond! We did not eat in the restaurant but had a delicious poolside breakfast that was included in the room rate.

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights end of June into July 2025. It was our second visit and I am currently arranging another for in a month or so. We had a great time - staff are very friendly and helpful and many we recognized from our stay in 2024. The room was very clean and comfortable and in exactly the location we had requested. We had breakfast each day and a couple of lunches at the hotel - it was great with plenty of choice for breakfast. For lunch, I think the only genuine complaint that could be made is that the portions are very large - and even for this the staff will make adjustments. (I now wish I was a food photo taker to add to illustrate) The rates for lunch menu are very reasonable as are the drinks on the beach area (served to you at your sunbed) and around the pool. We didn't try the evening meal which is now offered -very cost effective at 33 euros --- because we like to go to explore the local restaurants where even a starter can be 25 euros! Whilst I haven't dined there, I read the daily menu options - we just ran out of time to try it. With regard to the hotel - Yes there is a dispute ongoing - which prevents some of the restaurants on the sea front and the shops in the basement opening and it does look sad if you need to walk past to get to the beach club or other independent restaurants. However - the hotel make it very clear that there is an issue regarding broader facilities and for this they offer 20% discount off the normal rates - so anyone wanting a fully operational 5 star hotel but with 20% or more discount needs to wake up and smell the coffee! There is still a great hotel, pool and pool area with full facilities, beach club etc and for the part that is closed there are other restaurants close by - one very popular one within a few minutes walk! What is available is great and has a wonderful atmosphere - yes the staff miss the closed part of the hotel and look forward to it all being one again but this does not detract from them wanting all guests to have a fantastic stay and are very attentive. The rooms we have had - junior suite and pool view double have been great and very clean - yes you could pick fault if you wanted, and say the furniture is dated etc --- but I had exactly the same on recent work related visit to a 5 star hotel in Malaysia! I have read some concerning reviews on here - one which probably overlapped our last stay and I cannot understand it whatsoever. Please do not be put off going to stay at this great hotel - but please remember that you are being given a discount because it currently isn't operating as a 5 star hotel but it is still a very clean and friendly hotel, in a great location with great facilities and very friendly staff that will do whatever they can to make your visit a positive one. We hope to be back there in a few weeks but sadly only for a couple of nights this time.

This is a Great hotel to stay at! The location couldn’t be better. You have 10 minutes walk to Puerto Banus . Mistral Beach club is right infront of the Hotel. The Staff is the best it doesn’t matter if it’s the front desk or the cleaners they all take good care of you.

Appalling Stay in the “Presidential Suite” – Misleading, Dirty, and Deeply Disappointing I rarely leave negative reviews, but our recent stay at this hotel was so shockingly poor that I feel compelled to warn others. We booked the Presidential Suite expecting a luxury experience, as advertised on the hotel’s website and Booking.com. What we got was a rundown, dirty property that is grossly misrepresented online. From the moment we arrived, it was clear something was off. The hotel grounds are neglected and in disrepair, with visible wear, broken features, and a general sense of abandonment. Inside, the condition of the suite was unacceptable — dirty, poorly maintained, and certainly not “presidential” by any stretch. Despite raising our concerns with hotel management on Friday morning, our second day, nothing meaningful was done. The hot tub jets didn’t work, neither did the bath, the welcome amenity was embarrassingly poor and MOULDY, and the bathroom amenities had been downgraded with no notice — not to mention still being advertised differently online. The bed was so uncomfortable me and my Fiancé slept on the sofa for 7 nights. The food and beverage offering was so bad that we couldn’t bring ourselves to eat a single meal there. We ate every meal off-site — not exactly what you hope for in a supposed luxury hotel. Staff were indifferent and unhelpful throughout, lacking any genuine interest in guest experience. The hotel is not fit to host guests in its current state. It should not be open, let alone charging premium rates while failing to deliver even basic cleanliness or service. The response from management was inadequate — a 20% discount and waiver of extras does nothing to make up for the misleading advertising and poor experience. We considered leaving but struggled to find alternative accommodation at short notice. That’s the only reason we stayed on. To anyone considering a stay here: avoid this hotel at all costs. It is not as advertised, the facilities are broken, the service is substandard, and the management’s handling of complaints is deeply disappointing. Absolutely one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had.

We had a really great junior suite with a huge balcony overlooking the swimming pool, which was great! The location is fine, right on a beach and a 15-minute walk to Puerto Banus but there didn’t seem to be a lot going on in the immediate vicinity. Various parts of the hotel are closed, almost all of the restaurants being the most notable, and have been for a while by the look of them. This was probably the one down-side but to be fair we knew this in advance and the price was apparently discounted by 20% to reflect this. They could do with maintaining those areas a bit more as they detract from the look and feel of the place. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available in an open-air restaurant by the pool and the food was very, very tasty. There is plenty of on-street (free) parking close to the hotel.
