Just checked in and I feel like I have time traveled to when we came here 35 years ago. The room is dated, dirty and smells. Really disappointed as I am here for relaxation while my husband is at a conference and I was looking forward to a clean, comfortable, upscale room to chill in. Can’t believe what they are charging for this room. It is on par with a nice Holiday Inn.

We love the resort… We came to the beach, and Mansa was very helpful and polite… A pleasure to meet and use his service in helping us find the perfect place on the beach

I had called ahead and requested a high floor, king with ocean view. When we checked in they gave us no choice but a low floor pool view and 2 queens. They weren’t understanding at all and said they were all sold out. I told them I called ahead to confirm my requests and was assured that would have that type of room. It’s absurd to me that they are charging $900 a night and actually charge you to get a decent pool chair $37 per chair to be in the front area. I found that really offensive and tacky. Also first 2 days they had free coffee which was a nice touch and today no coffee and we all went to front desk and they told us a they don’t have enough staff. Again, that level of service is what I’d expect at a cheap hotel not a JW. The staff over all were not pleasant except the wait staff all good. Our rooms didn’t seem clean each day- looked like the just pulled out covers up and fluffed the pillows. Probably the worst room cleaning I’ve had. For the money way better options than this!

The best feature of the hotel is the vast beach with fine sand. The food was excellent especially the hot chocolate in the breakfast room but reserving a table in a restaurant did not always work well .the pool was nice.the valet took a long time.

We still have part of our stay remaining, but we’ve honestly considered leaving early. While the beach and pool areas themselves are nice, the overall experience has not justified the very high price. For what we’re paying, this stay has been disappointing. Overall Atmosphere The hotel feels incredibly busy and overwhelming. The lobby is so crowded you can barely walk through it. Our kids were bumped into multiple times. People were lining up early to get into the pool area to claim chairs. By 8:30, every chair had been “reserved” with towels or belongings, despite posted rules saying items would be removed after an hour (this was not enforced). I don’t want to fight for a chair on vacation. Even the premium chairs (which require an additional fee) were fully reserved but sat empty for long stretches. Dining & Service Issues Restaurant wait times were excessive. We didn’t expect 1–2 hour waits. (We should have made a reservation for Quinn’s…that was on us.) After long waits at Kane Tiki and Quinn’s, we went to 10K Alley. We were seated but no one acknowledged our table for 15–20 minutes. We flagged down someone cleaning tables, who kindly brought water and said someone would help us soon but after another 10 minutes with no service, we left. There were open tables around us, so it wasn’t packed. We eventually returned to Kane Tiki. After a wait with tired kids, one of our child’s meals was forgotten and didn’t arrive until we were finished eating. At poolside lunch another day, they again forgot one of our kids’ meals and left the chicken off one of our salads even though both items were clearly listed on the receipt. Service overall has not met what we would expect from a JW property. These repeated service lapses have made it very difficult to relax and enjoy a vacation with young children. Rooms The rooms feel a bit dated and in need of maintenance. Paint is cracking, scratchy sheets, water pressure is low, and my son found an old Band-Aid in the shower. For this price point, that level of cleanliness and upkeep could be improved. Arrival Experience Our arrival set the tone. It was extremely busy and unclear where valet ended and check-in began. We waited at least 15 minutes just to be told we could pull off to the side and unload. Loaded our own cart and someone finally offered to assist only after seeing me pushing the luggage cart into your lobby. The process felt chaotic and poorly managed. Positive Note The beach is nice and sand is great. Good for young kids. We were able to snag beach chairs but had to be out by ~9am to snag 4 chairs. Breakfast at Maia was a bright spot. Service there was excellent. Will in particular was great. ⸻ Overall, this stay has not delivered the experience we expected given the significant cost. We’re trying to find the bright spots but it’s been frustrating.
