A Jewel in the Sounds

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The Bay of Many Coves is a jewel in the Marlborough Sounds. Family owned, with a great team spirit amongst the staff which really shines through. From the boat ride out, which is beautiful in itself, to a warm welcome, really comfortable accommodation with views across the Sounds, to a changing 5 course meal each night, we were spoilt. Kayaking, a walk to the waterfall and the Lookout ( a steep climb but well worth the effort), followed by a soak in the hot tub. What better way to spend a few days? Hats off to our chefs, Halan and Remy and to the rest of the fantastic team lead by David who went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. Thank you, Bay of Many Coves.

A really special experience.

My partner treated me to an incredible weekend away at the Bay of Many Coves resort for my birthday. The resort was truly amazing. Elegant and peaceful, in a quiet and stunning location. The room had a spectacular view, and everything we needed for our stay. The food at the restaurant was exceptional and we couldn't have been more well cared for by the amazingly attentive and welcoming staff. Thank you to all for a really special experience.

A truly incredible stay.

My partner and I had an incredible stay at Bay of Many Coves. The setting is absolutely stunning, and the whole experience feels peaceful, luxurious and very special from the moment you arrive. The accommodation was beautiful and comfortable - waking up to the most stunning view — and the food was outstanding (shout out to Remy). What really stood out was the service: warm, genuine and effortless. A personal highlight was Hector's dolphins coming right up close to our kayaks on the second day just a few bays over. A truly special place that lives up to the hype. We left feeling completely relaxed and would love to return. Thank you David and the team for making our stay so special. Emily & Dan

Breath taking experience

Arrival during the day is a must to see the true beauty of the resort You can either arrive and depart by the many taxi ferries from Picton or take advantage of the helipad and book a helicopter Friendly staff will greet you upon arrival and will attend to your every need Breakfast lunch and dinner is served in the 2 restaurants or on the deck in the morning sunshine The menu for dinner is changed daily There are plenty of bush walks adjacent to the Queen Charlotte Sound track and a glow worm attraction can be viewed at night Kayaking fishing is also available along with swimming in the pool or a hot tub to be enjoyed Rooms are comfortable and good sized with viewing out of every window either to the sounds or to the fauna and birds, if you are lucky you may get to see or hear the little blue penguins All in all a wonderful experience and an amazing venue

Luxury retreat in a beautiful setting

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I had a wonderful stay at Bay of Many Coves. The setting is absolutely breathtaking: quiet, secluded, and surrounded by the kind of natural beauty that makes you slow down immediately. My room was beautiful and had an excellent view over the water. Honestly, given the layout of the property, it seems hard to imagine a bad view here. The food was one of the biggest surprises. For such a small hotel, the dining was consistently beyond my expectations. I had the tasting menu dinners, and everything felt thoughtful and well executed. They also handled my shellfish allergy without any trouble, which I really appreciated. The other standout was the staff. Because the hotel is small, you naturally get to know people over the course of your stay, and everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and genuinely lovely. It gave the whole place a relaxed, personal feeling without being intrusive. I also enjoyed kayaking and hiking, which made the surroundings feel even more special. The only caveat is that it is expensive, but if it fits your budget, I think it is absolutely worth it.
