Reviews for Es Saadi Marrakech Resort - Palace

Good but not quite the 5 star

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

So we have just returned from a weeks holiday at the palace. Read on, because there are some things we loved and some things we maybe thought were missing. We arrived about 9:30pm and got checked in . We were half board , which means breakfast and dinner here. There was no welcome drink as others have described and we weren’t offered any options for a bite to eat. We had the briefest tour, here is the spa, here is breakfast and here is your room. The room was a nice surprise - called an executive suite , it had high ceilings and a traditional decor. Large bathroom , separate wardrobe room - I won’t call it a dressing room as not really big enough. In the bedroom area was a 4 post style bed with a tv and lounge leading to a balcony. The balcony was a great size overlooking one of the pools and was furnished with 2 sun beds and a small table with 2 chairs . On a clear day you could see the tops of the mountains which apparently were 14kms away. The bed was very large and very comfortable and we didn’t fail to have a good night sleep. The pools - one heated to 27 the other a cool18. The 18 degree was a lovely lagoon pool , huge in size with some fountains and bridges to add to the look. It was surrounded by palm trees and had sun beds and couches dotted around. This became our favourite pool to be around and in as it was very quiet and relaxing. The heated pool , a round decent size affair was of course tempting but was a magnet for every arrogant family and their inflatables. This pool was by far the busiest - it took us a couple of days to calculate . Service around the pool by the team was very good with drinks and snacks coming quickly and with courtesy. The lunch restaurant I have reviewed separately. The breakfast room , environment and choice with service from a brilliant team were probably the best we have ever experienced and should be applauded. On our last day it was my wife’s birthday and we were treated to some champagne at breakfast which was a nice touch. This was very quiet at 8:30 in the mornings which always made me wonder where all the families around th pool came from each day - my guess would be from the sister hotel next door. The half board evening meal was one of the detractors. Nothing was explained or very clear on what the options were - what restaurants and menus. We found out that there was a very limited menu- maybe 4 or 5 main dishes on the half board menu which really didn’t make it good value at all . In fact we only ate the half board portion of our stay once in 6 days - given we weren’t even given an option on night one. Whilst there was also good à la carte options these weren’t included nor did you get a discount for transferring your half board . IMO the hotel conveniently was economical with the food options to be able to charge more. The marketing and advertising for food could do with a total over haul - another example is a brunch with barbecue was set up at lunchtime on the Sunday - not advertised anywhere so as we were already in the pool missed this option. We did have some good à la carte meals and experience in both the Moroccan and the gastro restaurants as well as a room service which we ate on our balcony over looking the pool. So a lot of words to say that bed and breakfast is the best option and then choose your alacarte on top.for us half board was no value . Overall we enjoyed our time but wouldn’t go back without changes to the dinner offering.

Luxurious Hotel with Kids Club

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had a great time staying at Es Saadi Palace. We stayed with two young children (5 and 3). The hotel was luxurious, staff were very friendly and helpful throughout and it is located in a great spot. The Kids Club was especially great, the staff there were so nice and looked after our girls, they had classes on each day that our girls loved and allowed us to have the odd hour free to relax in the spa or gym. Will come back!

Beautiful Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed at Es Saadi Marrakech Resort Palace for two nights at the end of our 10-night trip, as we wanted somewhere special to finish our holiday—and it did not disappoint. The hotel interiors are beautiful, and we received a warm welcome from reception on arrival. After check-in, we were shown to our rooms, which overlooked the pool. We had three rooms in total, and the hotel thoughtfully kept them close together, which made our stay much easier as a family. Each room was spacious, very well decorated, and had excellent amenities. The housekeeping and turndown staff were all very pleasant, helpful, and welcoming, as were the door staff, who were always on hand to assist. We were there for Easter Sunday and the hotel provided Chocolate Bunny eggs in each of the rooms. This was a lovely touch. The pool area is beautiful, with plenty of deckchairs and generous space between guests, making it feel relaxed and uncrowded. My husband and son also used the spa, which they said was very enjoyable. However, the hotel was quite busy during our stay, and we were unable to secure a massage treatment, so I would recommend booking spa treatments in advance. On our first evening, we went out for dinner, but on our return we stopped at the piano bar, which was a lovely space. The cocktails and service were excellent. The hotel also has a beautiful collection of art on display, and after our drinks we wandered through the halls taking it all in, which was a really enjoyable and unexpected part of the experience. On our second evening, we dined in the Italian restaurant, which was intimate and a perfect setting to mark the end of our holiday. The food was delicious, the service excellent, and the view into the internal courtyard made it a really special experience. The chef was particularly accommodating—he kindly offered to prepare spaghetti Bolognese for one of our daughters, even though it wasn’t on the menu, which we really appreciated. The only negative experience during our stay occurred on our final day at the pool. When I asked a pool attendant for cushions for the loungers we had chosen, they were dismissive and directed us to an area with shaded chairs instead. When I explained we preferred to sit in the sun, they laughed and said they didn't want to take out the cushions as it might rain, despite a completely clear sky. The interaction was very strange and uncomfortable. It was disappointing and felt out of keeping with the otherwise high standard of service. Aside from this incident, every other staff member we encountered was extremely professional, polite, and welcoming. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and found it to be a beautiful and relaxing place to end our trip.

Perfect kids club, thank you to Samira and to the staff

We stayed at the palace Es Saadi with our two children and had a wonderful experience. The kids absolutely loved the kids club, which offers many fun and engaging activities. A special thank you to Samira, the manager, and to the two lovely girls who were incredibly kind and caring with the children. Their kindness and professionalism made our stay even more enjoyable.”

Magnificent, a must visit !

Did a lot of research before booking chose this place and so glad we did. Absolutely brilliant! You can tell it’s privately owned as everything is done with pride, the hotel has a very much non corporate feel, wonderful art works all around hotel, everything is kept immaculately, staff are in the main attentive and friendly. Our room a delux suite was off the scale brilliant, grounds and gardens beautiful. We will definitely be back. A couple of minor suggestions, the hotel could do with a relaxed coffee bar area for through the day perhaps on one of the terraces as options for casual coffee or bar service is limited to the pool bar. Only negative is pool bar staff are not as attentive as we would have liked, you had to chase them down to order drinks, food and pay the bill. We will be revisiting and recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone!
