In the Marrakech Palmeraie, within a walled garden of aromatic herbs, fruit trees and olive groves, Jnane Tamsna is a stunning country guesthouse of traditional Medina architecture. Your stay in a new Moussafir Suite secludes you in luxury behind earthen walls as it provides superb views over the High Atlas Mountains. Read, meditate or enjoy a yoga session at the tranquil poolside area, and then dine by candlelight on the veranda or on the rooftop in Oriental style - reclining on pillows.

A delightful stay recently at Jname Tamsna. We were staying in one of the luxury tents away from the main building – beautifully equipped with a deliciously comfortable bed and really good quality toiletries and bathrobe – very important! The whole ambience of the hotel is one of laid-back luxury, and their ethics are excellent with a garden growing their own produce. Notes for future visitors: 1. the hotel is situated about a 20 minute drive from the Medina so you will need a taxi for every trip. 2. The staff are very friendly. 3. The owners live on site and are very friendly and approachable. 4. It is tricky to find reception on arrival - especially if you arrive after dark! You have to walk through the whole hotel and past the pool to find the reception area 5. Maybe we were unlucky but we didn’t get a tour of the hotel so had to try and work out where the pools and breakfast areas were. 6. There is no menu for lunch or dinner, you have to tell the staff whether you will be there for these meals and they will sort out a table for you. My top tip here is to actually text the Concierge - simply telling a member of staff may not get the message to the right person.

I stayed at Jnane Tamsna as a solo traveller on the last leg of my journey from Casablanca to Marrakesh and all points in between. This place is too beautiful for words! I was quickly booked in and made comfortable and seated o to enjoy a meal that was both delicious and lovely.. The hospitality of the staff is incomparable. I was overjoyed when Madame Loum-Martin came over greeted her guests and sat and had a meal along side us! Madame Loum-Martin is the consumate hostess and speaks on topics such as the African diaspora, current events, politics and the environment with equal parts honesty, insight, practicality and charm. She is so perfectly well rounded and informed. I stayed in a room that was beautiful, comfortable and healing. The grounds are immaculate. The meals are plentiful and the accommodations are a treat to the eye as far as the eye can see. I had luxurious soap, towels, bedding books and service from all staff with a smile. I was invited to share a meal with Madame one evening where I was introduced to her dear friends and associates. Madame made me to feel included and welcome as one of the few non French speakers at the table. She has a way of including all in the conversation and putting you at you ease. This meal was a grand dinner and if you have seen pictures of her fetes it is all of that and more! I hope to go back to Jnane Tamsna in 2026. This is a paradise where you can rest, retreat and renew surrounded by beauty and charm.

As a Moroccan from the Southeast, currently residing between Marrakech and Tangier, I've had the pleasure of visiting many luxury accommodations, including villas and riads. However, nothing I've experienced compares to the magical oasis that is Riad Jnane Tamsna. Meryanne Loum-Martin, the visionary designer behind this piece of heaven, possesses a truly special touch. She elevates Moroccan handicrafts to an exquisite level, and simply stepping into the riad allows visitors to immediately feel its unique vibe, spirit, and energy. Meryanne's strong character and charisma also contribute significantly to the riad's high-class atmosphere and positive energy. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. And the food? A truly magical experience. Thank you for hosting us and sharing this wonderful experience.

*Disclaimer* The setting is beautiful, and we were initially impressed when a staff member kindly gave us a tour of the grounds. However, as we were walking back to our sunbed after what had been a lovely tour, the owner suddenly approached and publicly scolded the staff member for showing “day visitors” a route that apparently wasn’t meant for us. It was an incredibly awkward and uncomfortable moment that made us feel unwelcome and out of place. Being treated that way by the owner herself made it all the more disappointing. What started as a pleasant experience was unfortunately overshadowed, leaving a sour taste for the rest of the day. It’s clear the hotel doesn’t truly value or welcome day pass visitors. For a more respectful and enjoyable experience, I would recommend Beldi Country Club or Farasha Farmhouse instead.

The photographs are indeed accurate—the place is undeniably beautiful and tastefully decorated. However, it falls far short of what one would reasonably expect from a luxury hotel. We leave with the distinct impression that the primary aim is to capitalise on the tourist rather than to offer a truly refined experience. Drawbacks: The location is remarkably inconvenient—30 minutes from virtually anywhere. We ended up spending €100 per day on taxis (€25 per ride into town, €45 to the airport), not to mention the added hassle of pre-arranging transport and constantly watching the clock. As for the much-promoted notion of 'simple luxury' Regrettably, what we experienced leaned The hotel claims to offer “simple luxury,” yet the experience feels more sparse than elegant: In room amenities were minimal to the point of being perfunctory: merely shampoo and shower gel, no body lotion, conditioner, or any additional touches one would reasonably expect. Breakfast was particularly underwhelming while the fresh orange juice was indeed a delight, the rest of the offering was surprisingly spartan. There is no fresh fruit, only a basic fruit salad (apple, kiwi, banana). The jam is industrial, the salads are pre-packaged (à la Florette), and only accompanied by tomato and cucumber. No charcuterie, merely a rather unpleasant ham and a mediocre cheese. Pastry selection is limited to four types of Moroccan bread, croissants, and pancakes. Eggs are offered only upon request—fried or scrambled. We dined at the hotel on our first evening and were thoroughly disappointed, particularly considering the €50 per person price tag. In summary, if one is to charge premium rates, a certain level of quality must be delivered. The intent to remain modest due to the surrounding socioeconomic context is understandable, but it does not justify neglecting basic standards of comfort and service. Luxury need not be ostentatious, but it must, at the very least, be thoughtful and complete.
