A Relaxing Stay - Great Location and Friendly Staff

Hacienda Santa Rosa de Lima – Yucatán, Mexico Since IHG acquired a number of hacienda properties in Yucatan and Campeche, my wife and I have made it a tradition to use our IHG Free Night Awards to explore them. For our third hacienda stay, we took an overnight trip to Hacienda Santa Rosa de Lima, about an hour and a half south of where we live in Merida. Like most haciendas, this one is fairly isolated. Once you leave the main highway, it’s about five miles through a few small communities before reaching the hacienda, located in the tiny village of Santa Rosa. Upon arrival, we were greeted with cool towels and glasses of ice-cold lemonade. After checking in, we were shown to our room, which wasn’t quite as nice as the other haciendas we stayed but still comfortable. As IHG Platinum members, we also received complimentary bottles of water and an assortment of fresh fruit. The bathroom was stocked with high-quality, handmade soaps and bath products that my wife especially appreciated. The hacienda itself is beautifully restored, with charming colonial architecture, two swimming pools, and nicely maintained gardens and walking paths. We were also the only guests and had the entire place to ourselves During dinner, the staff somehow got the idea that we were celebrating our anniversary (it was actually back in February), so our table was decorated with an elaborate “Happy Anniversary” message, and they brought out a complimentary dessert. We just rolled with it - and it was a nice touch Later that night, we returned to our room to find another surprise - pieces of fruit that were hollowed out and filled with custard and a carafe of ice water waiting for us. The food and drinks at the restaurant were excellent, and the service was top-notch throughout our stay. Like all haciendas, this is the kind of place where you bring a good book, unplug, and just relax. Highly recommended.

More than just a stay

This is an amazing place with a very special and relazed atmosphere. The staff is the most friendly staff and best food we have experienced for our entré five weeks of travel. The hacienda offers different achtivities, which We unfortunately didn't have time to explore because We arrived late and only had planned for two days. One idea for improvement could be if the achtivities was listed on a board at the reception. We had two boys with us, which the staff was very attentive to.

Crazy cool place

This place is a jewel. I'm never sure why there aren't more guests but having the staff working almost for yourself alone is part of the charm. My pro tip is that the main swimming pool is too cold in winter, but if you ask where the other pool is (hidden behind the super cool hidden smoke stack) there's another behind four of the rooms that they'll let you use and the water is much warmer there.

Beautiful hacienda with a lot of history

Beautiful Hacienda restored from an original factory back in the days. We were given an introductory tour of the premises which was great. The place is truly something unique! Great food as well and spacious, clean rooms. Calm and quite atmosphere is exatly what we needed after some busy travel days in Mexico.

A unique and authentic experience

My wife and I spent 2 nights in this gorgeously restored Hacienda directly next to a Mayan village. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly (although have a translation app handy if you don’t speak Spanish). Authentic and delicious Yucatan cuisine in the restaurant plus activities and spa treatments available on property. My wife had a transcendent Mayan healing massage from Fatima. We took an early morning bird-watching tour with Jose, who was an expert on all the species that live there, as well as the medicinal plants growing in their huge garden. The cooking class was also very fun, with tasty results. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We were there in January (dry season) and there were surprisingly few insects bothering us. But it is the jungle and insects will get into your room, so if you’re very squeamish, stick to a big resort in Cancun! If you want an authentic and unique experience, come here!
